you go around looking for ways to ridicule peoples' hobbies.

You must not be farmilier with the ''simmers'' over at airliners.net, they deserved to be made fun of when ever possible.

While I agree that the airliners.net crew is a little weird, I gotta stick up for some of the flight simming guys. A lot of them are guys who are physically unable to ever fly an airplane because they are in a wheelchair, legally blind, etc. Flightsimming gives them a lot of pleasure and I cant knock them for going full tilt on it if thats what they want to do.

If people that play flight sim have no life, then people that watch football don't either...people that play fantasy football really don't.....if you play sports in video games, you're a real loser....

Come on, can't people just have hobbies? Remember, although we think flying may be the greatest thing on earth, to some people it IS a game!!! And that's a great thing!!! Some of those people that only fly on the PC may eventually become real pilots!! Believe me, there are more than a few pilots that flew a computer for hundreds of hours before ever getting within 100 feet of a Cessna (ahem...
)

I'm a veteran, and I know that combat is a serious matter....but I can hardly make fun of people that play Battlefield 1942 or Medal of Honor....They're awesome GAMES!!!!

Sorry, just venting...lol.

WHAT, football and no life.
Are you kidding me? What about all the people sitting at home/work cruising message boards? Oh wait, that would be me,you, and everyone else here.

Have a great day ! I can't wait for tomorrow to watch some football.

I think MOH/BF1942 rocks, and FS2004 is fun if you can't afford the $300 trip to the airport, so feel free to poke fun at me if that makes me a dork...

But I think anyone would agree with me that this guy SHOULD be made fun of:

Greeeat. I don't mind if it's in flight photos or pictures of objects, but a person's image isn't cool.

I don't think it is JC.er's objection to Simmers, at all. Nothing to do with it. What it does have to do with are the select simmers, who for some reason believe that their handful of hours flying a boeing 737 in MSFS makes them an expert on all matters of aviation.

There's someone in my flying club who is doing just that. He finally said, you know, why don't I find out what flying a real plane is like. Today was his first flight. He doesn't know the terminology yet but he had a great time.

Agreed. I'm a simmer myself. Montanapilot has seen and flown my setup. I probably have ten times the hours on the sims than in actual aircraft. It is a hobby and a game, but as most things technology based, I tend to go a little over the top.

I started simming as a hobby/game before I became a pilot.
It is a little irratating many will admit, to hear someone with zero real hours and 1000 sim hours correct an ATP on jet systems. That's the rub for most.

I'm private GA right now and will start training towards a commercial charter/corporate career next month. I wonder after I'm hired and flying professionally if I'll still spend hours on the sim? Hard to say but I bet the smart money is on I will. Go figure. I think it will still be fun.

Now, about the 737 brake system...

Well the whole FS "Virtual Airline" thing got me a little interested. Actually mtsu_av8er got on my case for making some rather rude remarks about them, and I sort of agreed with him so I went out and tried it. Nice people, just some dont have a life...I joined one about 1 month ago and tried it for about a week, there just a little to "serious" for me especially for something thats supposed to be fun. I do find FS fun though...

I don't know if it is quite flight simming, but I did play on Air Warrior for about a year. It was probably the most fun on a game I ever had. There were squadrons that would all get on at the same time and bomb certain places with gunners in the B-17's with P-51 escorts. I mean it was the closest that any of us could ever really get to the real thing. I really wish they still had that game around.

Any of you ever play that one?
