Took up a new guy today for the first time and this guy could fly the plane like nobodies business. It usually takes 3-4 lessons before getting to stalls steep turns and slow flight. This guy was nailing them on the first lesson, after conquering how to fly the plane itself. WOW!

Either he's a good pilot, or I'm just getting better at teaching!

Maybe neither - I know Ed plans to go on an intro flight, initially suck at flying, and then get better, better and better as the flight goes on. It will be tough as he is likely to do something automatically, that no student pilot would do. But would be as funny as hell!

That's something I've been contemplating too. It could be great fun. Probably not so much for the poor CFI after he/she realizes that they've been had (probably somewhere around the time that I kick a rudder as they're demonstrating a stall to me). I would probably take them out for a cold one afterwards.

Maybe he's just pulling the Bob Hoover trick on you. When you solo him he will start doing loops and rolls.

Hoover signed up for lessons from a pretty young female flight instructor while he was a test pilot in the Air Force. When she soloed him, he started doing aerobatics over the field. She almost fainted untill she saw his buddies, including Chuck Yeager, laughing thier a**es off.

Read "Forever Flying" it's a great book.

The best flight I ever had was my intro flight, then for the first six weeks or so of my PPL training I began to slowly devolve. However... I think that not thinking about all of the factors that go into a steep turn, slow flight, etc. played a key role. None the less... I still couldn't land worth a crap. If he can land... then he is the Doogie Howser (sp??) of aviation!
