SOLO!!!!!!!

Well I was pretty sure the time was coming. I went in today to do some pattern work with my instructor. We did 5 landings before he let me loose. Whew...I was more excited than I was nervous. In fact I didn't really realize that I was soloing until I got back on the ground for the last time. 3 takeoffs and landings total before I had to call it a day. It certainly has put me in the best mood I've been in for awhile!!!

Once again thanks to everyone here for their help, I'd say JC definately helped me get my feet wet before starting to fly.

But I really couldn't tell a difference in the way the aircraft was flying. He's not a big guy, and I'm in a 172.

Congrats bud, I did mine last week and I know how you are feeling right now. Whats even better now that you soloed, you can go up any time you want by yourself and practice. What a great feeling hah?

One of the things that really surprised me was how much more confident I was after I soloed. Even in my instrument training I got a little shy on some things when my instructor was around. Now, when I'm by myself I don't hesitate on anything. That first solo is a great feeling you'll never forget, and it will do wonders for your confidence every time you're up by yourself. Congrats.

Yea I tottaly agree, I'm in the stage where I don't need to worry about flying the airplane as much, but that insturtor blabing in my headset can get distracting and sometines I miss some words or radio calls. I look forward to being alone so I can enjoy it and concentrate

That's true, so if I want more work on say patterns or steep turns then I can just go up, of course you probably have to let your instructor know. Thats awesome!

Congrats!!! I did my third solo today. The rudder pedals don't seem as heavy without the instructor on board.

Maybe some day I will divulge my first solo attempt f-up, but not today.

Congrats on your solo!!!!!

When I soloed, I remember thinking to myself can I really land this thing.

My feet were shaking on the pedals!!

Come to think of it, they still do!

Welcome aboard!

Hey Congrat's on your Solo !!! How awesome was it to line up on the runway for the first time all by yourself !!

PS - I'll brave the crowd and admit a 2nd solo blunder... my old instructor jumped out but I had thought he closed the door all the way... so I just locked her up as usual with the latch up atop the door and off I went... needless to say it wasn't quite closed at all and was a bit drafty up around the pattern !!

So when you are allowed to Solo and practice on your own you still need a cfi to sign your logobook right? And all you pay for is the rental of the aircraft right?

Who's the pilot in command when you're soloing? You are. So that means guess who signs the logbook? You.

If there's no instructor in the plane, nope, you don't have to pay for one.

Allright. I tought that as you were still a student and didn't hold a license you still needed the CFI to sign your logbook.

Congrats on your solo. That is tres bien. I will be soon behind you. I take my first flight next tuesday. So long as the midwest summer weather holds out I will probably solo before September. BTW how much do you pay for your 172 hours?
