SoCal Crash Instructor, Student Dead

Isn't this type of airplane known for having unusually high rates of engine failures? The lack of fire at a crash site however does point to fuel starvation. I'm really curious as to what happened with this one.

I have a few hundred hours in tomahawks and if two adults get into one you can only bring about 15-20 gallons of fuel with you. Still can't imagine how a fuel starvation turns into a nosedive into the ground unless they flipped after landing?

Didn't see this until just now.

Rick was my first instructor, and the CFI I solo'd with. Don't really have time to say anything else right now.. But it really sucks.

Ben was the first person I knew who had been killed in aviation (although I never met him personally, we talked a lot on here), and now this. It's been a crappy year so far..

Anyway. I am sure the list will be longer by the time I am through in aviation. I will always follow my mantra: no matter how good of a pilot you are, there is always someone who is better who has got themselves killed.

RIP
