I have you all beat. We had Thanksgiving on Saturday evening. ;)

I actually have off for Thanksgiving, but it will be so hard to non-rev into Newark (not to mention the delays), we just decided to have the holiday early while my girlfriend was in town. This way there is no stress in trying to non-rev over the actual holiday.

I doubt I'll be off for Christmas... But that is the least of my scheduling problems.
 
I don't know what you guys are talking about. . .
I get home Wed, 3pm, off till Sunday. My December holds weekends and the entire week of Christmas off (22-29).

You guys just work for the wrong airline, that's all!!

What Thankgiving? Christmas? What's that? Oh wait...that is some kinda day off for those at HQ, right? I heard a rumor 'bout those alleged holidays...:)
 
I'll be having T-day with the in-laws. Minus the husband. He'll be, um, somewhere. He has beautious 11pm finishes this month, which results in him getting home at about 1-1:30 am. So he'll get home very, very late on T-day. I'll probably cook up a little T-day dinner for him the next day. No big deal really, T-day isn't that big a deal for us.

He actually got a pretty darn good deal for Christmas this year. He's off 23 & 24 Dec, with a 6pm report on Christmas day. Since his family stuff is Christmas Eve, and my parents will be here with us and we do Christmas on Christmas morning, he won't miss a thing! Pretty cool! If he was ATL based he'd be off no problem, but CVG is getting senior-er and senior-er........

Here's hoping for an ATL 88A bid as an early Christmas present...... :D

I've only ever worked over Christmas twice. Once was when the kids were 6 & 2, so we explained that Santa came a day early for Firemen & Airline workers and we had our Christmas on the 24th.

The next year I got a line which had me working on Christmas day, so I let my sons know it would be the same as last year...

I bid a "blind move-up" (the good old days, pre-PBS!) and ended up getting Christmas off. I told my older son the good news and instead of an excited "yay, Daddy's going to be home for Christmas!" I got silence and that look where you can tell the gears are turning...

Finally he comes out with, "Dad, does that mean I won't get my presents a day early this year?"

Nice to know what the priorities were...LOL! After that I never worried about getting it off...

I picked up a 32 hour DSM layover out of open time for Thanksgiving. I'll be getting paid per diem while I eat turkey with my family.

I originally traded for an entire day off in Mexico (where stuff would be open on Thanksgiving!) but then I found the home layover in open time while waiting for my commute yesterday.

For Christmas I have four legs, start in St. Louis and end up in Chihuahua. For now...

Man, you try that around here and you'd better be able to produce at least one testicle to the scheduling gods......maybe a finger or two as well. It's a bit ridiculous really. We're threatened with being fired if we call in over the holiday without, at the very least, a doctors note. Typically, you'd better be able to prove that you were extremely ill and there was no way you could've worked.

Ended up with Thanksgiving off this year, but I finish a trip on Wednesday at 8 pm.

Every year I've worked for this company I've had Christmas off and it's been a total fluke. First year I was in training over the holidays. Second year I had 2 days of vacation I "earned" with my employment, was able to bid off over XMAS. Last year I timed out 2 weeks before Christmas.

This year is no different. I bid a crappy line that had me starting on Christmas day with a crappy 4-day. One of the other captains in my base screwed up her bid and got all day trips. As luck would have it, it was my number 1 choice for a line. We line traded and viola, I have Christmas off again....and New Years! The sad thing is though, I don't get to spend it with my family in Florida. I work on Christmas Eve (get done at noon) and then do another trip the day after Christmas.

Yeah, just got my Dec bid back today and much to my shock, I have Christmas off as well! Didn't figure I'd pull THAT one off, but I did. :nana2:

I have a very small list of things to worry about and this ain't on it.

If ever confronted, simply ask your boss "did you want me to fly sick?"
If it doesn't end there, have him put something in writing and tell him you plan to fax it over to channel 10 news.

I got Halloween, T-day and Xmas off this year I have no idea how I did it, but I'm sure I'll pay for it somehow. Why?

PBS can be a vengeful b*tch. :)


But, last year I did Halloween early, T-day early, X-mas on the 20th and was in IYK for New Years Eve -- I finished a 6 day work block the day after Xmas, had two days off then reported back to work a 5 day block.
 
Daaaaaang. The guy that is 1 number junior to dad #325 of 382, got a line AND christmas off, without a week of vacation.

Dad gets back in at 4:45 pm on the 24th from SFO. not too bad, He could drive it and make it back for the festivities.

There is hope next year.

You have to love that the lines are published at 11:00:00 and not 1 second earlier.:banghead:
