So who is getting hit with lasers?

OK, so as a flight instructor I have personally been hit with a laser while flying twice. Flying the Meridian I have been hit once on final. It makes me livid. Who else is getting hit with lasers? This is all in the bay area CA.
 
We never saw anything, but there were reports of "unauthorized laser activity" from the tower when we were coming into LBB one night.
 
I haven't yet, but some of these portable lasers are very powerful. I saw a Class 4 1000mW (1W) 445nm blue laser online yesterday with a 4 mile range for $299.
 
Well, I haven't been hit by a laser, but I narrowly missed a flare/roman candle on departure out of SLC. If that counts. Tower saw it, and weren't amused...
 
ive been hit n short final in navy airspace. It screwed me up so bad i had to go around. i was on the heavy side of pissed.
 
This is why all airliners need to be armed with a 30mm, laser source seeking Gatling gun. It will simply home in on the lasers position and squeeze off a few rounds. Done. :clap:
 
Was hit a few years ago at KRHV. Lights up the whole cockpit like a dance club, felt like this dood looking around for it:

I was nailed with one, I crap you not, at 12,000 feet near Youngstown, Ohio. I was descending into PA and this green light just peirced the cockpit and as I looked over... right into the eyes. It was pretty consistent too. But dissapeared about 10 seconds later.

I haven't yet but a friend got hit and temporarily blinded on final into RHV with a primary student.
 
I've been hit twice, once coming off of 8 in PHL and once going into LGA on 4. In both cases we didn't suffer any adverse effects and continued onward, but I did get a nice phone conversation with the Feds out of the deal.

I like this!! Been hit twice. Once over Oakland and once on the way into Santa Barbara. Both were green lasers. Both times I would have used the 30 mm willingly. :(
 
Last time I went VFR up the west side of DCA, I got hit with a red and green laser...for like 3=4 minutes. I finally turned around it was so annoying!

Got hit with a green one out of MHT a few years ago. ATC said it may be because they were shooting an episode of "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" nearby, but we knew better. I was temporarily blinded and had to hand the flying over to the other guy. Talked to the feds for the better part of a week trying to track the guy down...
 
So how long till you need to have a license for anything more powerful than a pen style laser? I think it will take either an act of god, or people loosing their lives unfortunately. Either that, or the Senator who landed on a closed runway needs to be hit by one.
