So.....what's It Like?

I'm starting at the IWA location in September and would like to know from current students (or even past) what's it like? I am so excited to start ! :nana2: (also.......what did you primarily eat while at ATP, Ramen?)

IWA is great, that's where I went for all but CFI school (VGT). The apartments are really nice (floors were a bit dirty, but I think they cleaned them right after I left), and the airport is fantastic. Things are pretty laid back there, though the pace of training is high. The facilities are great, and you can get to the sim at pretty much any hour of the night if you coordinate with your instructor. It's an all around good time.

I ate a lot of Lean Pockets, hot dogs, mac and cheese, and pizza rolls. The kitchen is pretty well furnished, though...I had a roommate who cooked pretty intricate meals most nights. Study hard and have fun!

There are (or were) gas grills outside around the apartment complex. Nothing like BBQing in 110 degree heat.

my financing was done through Wachovia, How is allowance paid out. I took a loan with quite a bit of cushion but have no idea how the allowance is handled and how much it contains.

TGIF!!! They know us quite well. Apartments are nice and the BBQ gas grills near the pool are a great way to unwind after checkrides!!!

The disburse in 4 payments. My first and last had the "cushion" checks in it. ATP offered to hang onto that extra money for me to apply towards the next payment. I assured them that the money would be safer in my account especially if they were to go T/U. I highly recommend you do the same.

That was awfully kind of ATP to offer that.

How much extra money is this cushion money?

I don't want to blow through my savings but if I have to blow through it to keep from eating Ramon noodles every night I will.

I took out an extra $5k. I ended up throwing it in a savings account and sending it back to Wachovia when I finished up.
