So about those drunk pilots on "LAX"

So about those drunk pilots on \"LAX\"

4 drunk Russian pilots are talk arrogantly against the controllers, forcing them to assign a runway, or as the captain said "we'll just find one that's good for us, so assign us one!" Airplane uses its own reverse thrust to pull out of the gate...

Yeah, so Heather Locklear parks her car in front of the L-1011 main tires, walks out (engines roaring, forward thrust applied), and just stands there looking up at the pilots from the ground.

Weird. Is it me, or could the L-1011 have made it's way around/over the Ford Crown Vic ? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/insane.gif

Thanks for helping the piloting profession, Hollywood! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif

L-10 drives over the Crown Vic
*bump*
One pilot says to the other "Did you feel that bump?"
Other pilot says "What bump?"

Okay, that's an exageration, but I hate it when TV producers overdramatize like that.

Re: So about those drunk pilots on \"LAX\"

Anyone else notice that everyone was hanging out around the engines like they were at a cocktail party? "Where's the thrust?" "Oh, they add that in digitally in post-production. Have another martini."

Good lord - how WRONG was that show??? every bit of it...stunk...I betcha 2 weeks and it's gone cuz I just can't imagine people believing that crap occuring on a daily basis...

Re: So about those drunk pilots on \"LAX\"

No hon, people are totally "buying" it probably. There are financiers, producers, directors, cast, crew, etc that are all watching this bullcrap being filmed and they all think it's hunky-dory.

If they think it's hunky-dory, chances are "Joe Six Pack" is buying it as well.

ReLAX!!!!! Hollywood hasn't accurately portrayed pilots since Airplane. This stupid show (didn't see it) isn't going to hurt or help the profession.

Re: So about those drunk pilots on \"LAX\"

I thought the "plot" (and I use that term loosely) of the show was crappy, but I still enjoyed the show and would probably watch it again.

I looked at it as a comedy, rather than a drama. Besides, Heather Locklear's in it /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Re: So about those drunk pilots on \"LAX\"

Listening to a little local radio after dropping off Kristie at work today and most of the talking heads on morning radio thought it was the next best thing since sliced bread.

Gah! Yes people, we're that stupid as a television viewing audience.

I didn't, however, take note of which stations that the fans were on to cross-reference if they had any affiliation with the local network television affiliate so it might have been another case of cross-media marketing.

Re: So about those drunk pilots on \"LAX\"

The wife and I watched it last night. 10 minutes into it I wanted to hurl! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif Told the wife I give it 3 episodes before it gets canned. I don't plan on watching it anymore.

Re: So about those drunk pilots on \"LAX\"

Keep in mind guys, last year when the show "Playmakers" came on, the NFL players were really pissed off, because asa whole it did not accurately portray the players. However, most people includin gmyself loved the show. People in the aviation industry kow it is BS, but most of the audience doesn tknow any better

Re: So about those drunk pilots on \"LAX\"

Don't take the show too seriously and you may enjoy it.
It's melodrama after all!

Re: So about those drunk pilots on \"LAX\"

My wife and I are both fans of both Heather Locklear and Blair Underwood, so we watched. For the first and last time.

Re: So about those drunk pilots on \"LAX\"

This show was one of the most ridiculous shows I have ever seen. That aside, it was somewhat entertaining.

Re: So about those drunk pilots on \"LAX\"

It was baaaaaaad. Like an airport manager would even be aware of, much less look for, a missing crew??? Runway "twentyfive 'R' "??? Common. They can at least get the lingo right. A pretty pathetic effort. Too much sensationalism with no reality check. That's too bad, I was hoping it would be worthy.

You mean that's not how it's said? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Sort of like people that say "Runway zero-four" for Runway 4, for example. Overseas, where single-digit runways are painted with a zero-prefix, I could see. Just sounds odd hearing it in the US.

Re: So about those drunk pilots on \"LAX\"

I can't believe how many people here are reading too much into the show.

If the show really was true to life, then it would probably be boring. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/spin2.gif

Re: So about those drunk pilots on \"LAX\"

If you really want to see "Hollywood" inside the cockpit, watch the repeats of Wings on TVLand.
