Snap On Bluepoint

I have done the research and got the prices on the tools I need for my A&P class but have a question. The Snap On deal seems pretty good, 1700.00 for the tools compared to around 850.00 from Sears. The one thing I am unsure of is what are Snap On Blue Point. I see some of the tools listed as Blue Point. Is this a lower level of Snap On or something different. Any advice would be great before I finalize my decision on which ones to purchase.

They are Snap-On tools that are outsourced for a variety of reasons to other manufacturer's. They are made to Snap-On's standards (just as good) and come with the same warranty but they are like the cheap brand of Snap-On. Snap-On also brands tools that they don't have the copyright too but want to sell as Blue-point (such as Knipex Pliers). Most tool manufacturer's do this and a lot of times you can get the same tool cheaper directly from the manufacturer or from Sears. I do have bluepoint tools in my toolbox (mostly the pneumatic) but for the most part its Snap-On with a few Craftsman and Mac tools. Some of my tools come directly from the manufacturer though.

One thing, I would suggest is to take advantage of the student discount for tool boxes (if you want a Snap-On or Mac) while you are still in school. Most of the manufacturer's give a 50% discount which is a big deal when you are first starting out. I got a Classic 78 for $1800 plus a $400 gift certificate while I was in school. (You definitely want a rolling toolbox that can work as a bench.)
