Smell on flight halts operations at Boston airport

BOSTON, Jan 8 (Reuters) - Boston's Logan International Airport was closed for about 30 minutes on Friday after a suspicious smell on a departing Delta Air Lines (DAL.N) flight prompted the evacuation of 28 passengers and crew members, according to an airport spokesman.

The airport resumed normal operations at approximately 11 a.m. (1600 GMT), spokesman Phil Orlandella said.

The 25 passengers and three crew members on board Delta flight 6049 to Columbus, Ohio were evacuated from the plane, none were hurt, Orlandella said.

Airport officials believe the source of the smell was de-icing fluid. (Reporting by Scott Malone, editing by Anthony Boadle)

If the smell was from de-icing fluid, it was probably due to de-icing fluid getting into the packs.

If it was Chautauqua (Sp?) it may have been an EMB-145. Smoke and fumes from engine seals and pack operation ingesting vapors has been an issue the type has been an weak spot of the airplane for years.

Nothing sinister (ie, terrorist) in it.. just an unfortunate turn of events that happens every once in a while.

Obviously those pax were new to Poopy Taco or they would have known where the smell was coming from.
