Slant Alpha or Slant Papa

No idea. I just today discovered my Chinook guys were blasting around filing /P while my Medevac Blackhawk guys were doing /A. Both aircraft have the same equipment. An IP fight ensued. Manuals were quoted. AIMs were thrown at heads. Mothers were cursed. Total carnage.

@Nark - what do you guys file?

Silly Army aviators trying to discuss IFR stuff.....:)

When you can pay me as much cheddar as I'm making now, trick!

Seriously, I'd love too. I looked into some corporate type gigs a while back - one with your old outfit and one at CKs - they didn't pan out. I could retire from the military, but won't receive a payout until I'm 60 so a regional isn't really enough pay-wise. Know anyone who wants a dual rated dude?
@Maximillian_Jenius

I don't. I know there are some outfits out there where that is very desirable but I've kinda deleted the 91/135 world out of my radar (yea sorry that guy). Not sure on your flight times but I would assume you are fairly competitive to skip the regionals.

/A allows you to do more than /P. If you're /P, or TACAN only for example, you cannot be given a hold AT a navaid, you can only be assigned a hold at a radial/DME from said Navaid. VOR, that's not an issue.

The purpose of /P is for aircraft who only have that onboard for primary navigation. If you have both, then file /A.

And Mike, break up the IP fight and send those Army IPs back to doing stuff they really know, like mindless queep such as "I'm a drop of oil, show me where i go from here...." :D

Even without an ATP? I've got about 3000 hours, but only 1300 or so FW. Didn't really think I'd be in the running for anything but a regional.

That would make sense if it was still called Tacan Only - you got a reference?

And you haven't heard the new catch phrase the Army has, have you. We are all about "defragging the hard drive" now.

A reference for TACAN-primary aircraft not being able to hold at a navaid? They just can't, not legal for them.

Our -60s have both, and we file /A even though we have an INS, but its not primary Nav authorized for the NAS.

On second thought, if they're WOs, let them death match it out, so the ranks......infestation.....can be reduced. :D

Holy crap man, you're self-selecting!

Is that 1000 fixed wing turbine/jet? If it is, you need to talk to a brother like tewwww DAY.

How about 1200+ TPIC, all tactical jet, but nothing current.... as in, for some years before becoming full time helo scum?

No, but thanks. 1000 is ME FW piston. The helo is all turbine, mostly multi not that it matters. ;)

We file /A (in the M)

I can't remember what we filed with the A/L and the 128D. Which ever is basic GNSS.

File /A. It tells ATC the most appropriate information about your navigational ability. If I saw /P (if I was still able to see that sort of thing) I would presume you can't fly off a VOR and that you needed a TACAN or vector.

The Chinook guys lose this one!! They should file /A as well.
We didn't have TACAN in our A's but even in the EH we filed /A.
@Nark, there are a lot of operators that are looking for dual pilots....keep your eyes out. (If I hear of one, I'll send a message)

Thanks, but I think its @MikeFavinger is looking for the heads up.
I'm sitting fat dumb and happy between whirly bird gig on the weekends, and helping FA's during the week (which apparently goes against JC code...)

Thanks man. I'm not really looking hard.... Just considering a retirement gig if one comes up. One of those lots of money, little work gigs. Or I might just go warrant for my next career... Same same. ;)

No, a reference for:

As you can see in the thread there's varying opinions on it.
