Does anyone here get yelled at by there significant other because all you talk about is aviation? Last night, I spent 4 hours hearing it because all I talk about is flying etc!!

No, but I am required to log at least three hours working around the house for every time I head off flying. She is fully supportive but I think she sees my love of flying as leverage. Works okay for us.

What if she talked about her work all of the time? Would you like that?

I don't get tired of hearing about airplanes/flying/his day's work but I have to admit that I am absolutely completely fed up with hearing about Delta management, DALPA, and the awful state of the industry in general. Every day he has to launch into a tirade of some sort bitching about something and it's just getting old hearing the same crap day in day out. If it was conversational, or talking about something NEW that's happening that would be different, but it's the same crap, over and over and over and over and over again. Maybe that's her beef? Hearing the same thing over and over again?

Ehhhhh...there is more to life then talking planes. In fact when I meet up with Doug & Kristie or any other JC'ers we very, very rarely ever talk shop. Not saying that talking planes isn't kool it just shouldn't define you. No one wants or should be one dimensional.

I love to hear about a teachers day

Wow...somethiNG we have in common my somewhat signifigant other is a H.S. math teacher...your right. Maaaaaaaan some the stories he tells me...blows my mind. Teachers have good stories!

My wife ripped on me pretty good right before Christmas as we were heading over to DE to visit my parents for the holidays. On I-495 (the DC Beltway) I told her to look over to the left as we were passing FEDEX Field, home of the Washington Redskins. She didn't, I again said to check it out (not demanding, though). That's when she goes off into a tirade about how she didn't care and doesn't get the same feelings coming over her (her words were actually quite intriguing) when we see an airplane fly overhead, or pass FEDEX Field, etc.

What she said to me and how she said it impressed the heck out of me. I was impressed, shocked, offended, wowed, etc. all at the same time.

I don't talk flying much around her though to the point where she would say something.

Ummm....no. Life is all about choices.

But I'm sure that your dog (if you have one) barks at you for being gone on a trip for too long!

:)

Gotta ask yourself, "What would Samuel Jackson say?"

He'd say: "Woman! Don't gimme no slack!"

:yeahthat:

Funny you mention this, just yesterday I told my wife im going on a long cross country tomorrow, so she proceeds to tell me all I do is fly and go out drinking. The thing is, I haven't flown in over a month, and I haven't gone out drinking in probably over 3 months. WHAT BALLS . She probably said that because I went out last night for the first frickin time in forever, besides, my buddy had a ****ty week, it's obligatory I go out and get wrecked with him. :nana2:

Question is what did you do with her during that break from flying and drinking?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?:) If it's nothing then that's where that comment came from.

I took a month of leave after she had the baby (thats when the flying stopped), been back to work for about 2 weeks now. I guess I forgot to add that we came up with an agreement, I got to go out last night with my buddy, and tonight she is going out with her friends. The wife was still sweatin me none the less...

I used my girlfriends aversion to aviation conversation to my advantage: When I've had enough of listening to her griping about her job, I just say something like "Yeah, I know what you mean. Why, just the other day I was discussing with my captain the strength of wake turbulence between an -88 and a wingletted 75, and he said..."
By this point her eyes loll up into her head and I'm free!

I know your feeling. My wife cant stand for me to talk about flying. My bro in law in a pilot also and it drives her crazy when we start talking. Her bad taste came with the ATA fiasco. She knows it my passion but just doenst want to hear about it..

My wife doesn't complain, but I can tell when she's had enough and I'll change the subject. I'm not saying you'll grow out of it, but eventually you will talk about it less once it becomes a "job". Don't get me wrong, I still love flying but it's all about the days off!
