SkyWest, Inc. announced today that it has entered into a Capacity Purchase Agreement with United Airlines, Inc. to operate 40 new Embraer E175 dual-class regional jet aircraft. SkyWest also announced today, in a separate release, an agreement with Embraer regarding the acquisition of these aircraft. The CPA with United has a term of 12 years and SkyWest will operate under terms and conditions similar to its existing agreements with United.

I'm not an expert, but I'm pretty sure the 900 and the 175 are comparable on seats. I don't know about the way the airlines configure them.

Hoping this comes as some sort of trade for 50 seaters being parked? If it's 40 airplanes worth of mainline flying disappearing.... ugh.

Would the pay be around the same rate as the CRJ-900 then?
should be, the 900 and 175 have same engines and are essentially the same on paper...175 is more comfortable due to being wider and taller...900 is longer

My guess is a 2 for 1 swap with 200's coming off lease. Just came back from training and they said Inc is about 100 airframes too fat.

Good! Maybe United will stop cramming people into CRJs on ORD-YEG, COS-IAD, SFO-OKC, and the like. I love the E-jets, better seat width than most mainline planes. Unless scope changes, they would have to fly it with 70 seats correct? Seeing as S5 already operates 70-seat 170s, it makes me wonder why UA decided to go with the larger 175s over the 170. Maybe it'll remain a 70 seater with a few more rows of first class or economy plus.

They'll (United) will fly as big an RJ and in the maximum quantity allowed. Why? To have a cheap product tha closely mimicks their mainline product.

If a company peddles a cheap/inexpensive product in one area chances are good the other products are cheap/inexpensive as well such as their international services. I will gladly pay the extra cost for better service usually with a foreign carrier.
