SkyWest Lowers mins for 121 pilots; CRJ or equivalent A/C

Even the ALPA supporters I've talked with still think SkyWest is a great company, they jsut want to see some consitency with management and a binding contract. They aren't looking for any hugh changes. Maybe they should be though. ALPA has done wonderfull things for other carriers like Mesa. :sarcasm:

Indeed they did! Let's not forget about the Freedom I disaster and how the union was able to wrap that one up. Sure they got horrible work rules out of that one, but they were able to contain that monster. The same can't be said for TSA with GoJets, which is unfortunate. But to be honest, I'm not sure if the TSA pilots had anything to give so they could have been hosed from the get go.

I honestly see it as another tactic of Skywest to pull pilots from union airlines to them. Where else are guys with 800TT going to have 200 hrs of that 800 as RJ equivalent time? Another 121 operator - of course.

Of course it's an attempt to poach pilots from other carriers! That's the whole point--they're letting other airlines that treat their employees like crap do a lot of the weeding out for them. But I don't see how you're making it into a union/non-union issue. Skywest, despite how well you seem to think you know otherwise, is overall a very good place to work, and there is no shortage whatsoever of pilots who are willing to jump from other carriers over there. It has nothing to do with Skywest wanting to pull pilots specifically from union carriers and everything to do with them wanting to fill seats.

Well as long as the QOL is better at some carriers...pilots will leave.

Holy chit Batman! Someone agrees with what Surreal says. . .stop the presses! :panic:

Company's have to do what they have to do, and if that's lowering minimums to steal pilots from other operators. . .so be it. More power to them, especially one where pay isn't the only thing that is important to a majority of the pilot group (QOL, work rules, benefits).

Don't get caught confirming my opinions too often though. I'm not suppose to have one.
