Really? Super informative bro.
He was being truthful. Attention to detail counts. Also know Jepp Plates and enroute charts, derive alt mins, be able to discuss exemption 3585 without sounding like an idiot. FARS, joint responsibility, dx responsibility. Also I suggest getting to know St. George before the interview. just review all material that you studied for your o & p and you will do fine.

Thank you for your help. I understand that attention to detail is important but I didn't feel like spelling it "SkyWest" on a forum was a big deal. I just felt like he was trying to be a grammar nazi for some reason. Anyways, thanks again for the info and it was very helpful. I'm just trying to figure out what I should expect to be asked on the interview.

While it doesn't make sense with a small detail like SkyWest, small things missed while dispatching flights can bite you in the behind. In my humble opinion, is what was trying to be conveyed. Little things missed while dispatching can snowball into something that could be detrimental to your day, career and your passengers. It's a serious business, but that is why dxer's sense of humor is unique.

You are right, DX is a serious business. I'm personally not in DX ( I made this thread to ask for a friend) but with that said I don't see how someone in DX has a special sense of humor. Being a pilot for a 121 if I screw up my job there will also be consequences, it doesn't mean I need to be harsh to people to try and validate my importance. We all understand that attention to detail is important in the business that we work in but most of us as professionals understand that we don't need to spell it out on a forum.

The original post implies an interview has been granted so in reality, the interview has already began and all the interviewee actions can be judged. If you don't think hiring managers follow threads like these you're being naive. Given enough posts it is even possible to match an applicant to the screen name. So from the original post two questions come to mind; has the applicant done their research on the airline to know Skywest is Australia based or is it an attention to detail issue? Move on to the interview now; does the resume have extra digits in a phone number or misspelled words? There is a lot of competition for limited seats in a new hire class. You have to bring your "A" game and find positive ways to stand out in the crowd. Good luck to your friend during the interview. SkyWest is a great place to start a dispatch career.
