Skywest interview

Anyone have any experience? They are flying me out to Vegas next month. Any info would be appreciated.

Lucky . . . I applied there too but I haven't heard back from them. I'm actually getting pretty depressed because I've applied at a million different places and haven't heard back from any of them (except to tell me they don't want to hire me). I seriously think I'm at a disadvantage because I don't have any pilot certificates or ratings.

I'm curious though, they're flying you to Vegas? Wouldn't they be flying you to St. George?

I wouldn't get too discouraged about not having a pilot's license. I got hired without one, and I'm currently working at a major, and I still don't have one. Dispatch managers are seeking people to dispatch, not fly. The first job is always the hardest one to get so I would say hang in there.

I think SkyWest often interviews in Las Vegas because it's a fairly easy drive from SGU and SGU is more of a challenge to fly people into - short runway, only has flights from SLC in small aircraft, etc.

As I talk to my former classmates with varying levels of experience it really seems to be luck of the draw. In fact the first person that was hired out of us had zero flying/airline experience. I went to interview today. There were quite a few people there. I did the initial interview and test. It seemed like there were people waiting to talk to a second panel. Can someone confirm that? If so it appears I am a skywest reject :/

Thanks, I really appreciate your encouraging words. I've never applied for a job like this and I've felt pretty disoriented about the whole process. But you're right. I'll just hang in there and keep applying. Thank you!

Can anyone shed some light on first year dx pay at skywest? Also do their dxers get CASS? Info on Sched and QOL?

It's a good initial airline job if you can get it - I know several people who went there after Mesa and a couple are still there. I think they work 10 hour shifts and have a 4/3 rotation; pretty sure they are in CASS but not 100% sure. SGU is very pretty, although it gets very hot in the summer - I have known some people didn't like it due to the dominant religion there having a lot of influence in the way the town is run. However, you can get to NV in about 40 minutes if you ever feel the need to "get away". It's also near some cool national parks (Zion, Bryce, north rim of the Grand Canyon) if you like outdoors stuff. I want to say starting pay is in line with other regionals but I don't have an exact figure - somewhere in the $15/hr range I believe. It's definitely a good company to get experience at.

I interviewed there last year; it is common for Skywest to hold interviews in Vegas. The knowledge exam was very long and we were only given 30 mins to complete it. The interview was pretty standard with common interview questions.
Good Luck!

Mesa was hiring... did you give them a try?
