SkyWest gets dumped for Mesa

It is crazy! I had to go into Lew's office and ask to fly two weeks ago. Luckily I requested a guy I knew and got a two day trip with him. It had been like 48 days since I had flown, not one call in December. I kinda forgot I was a pilot for a while. That is especially true since I have take a job at a local ski shop and started my own small business consulting gig that is going well. So I'm keeping busy and that is good. It is actually the only way I am surviving financially. Right now I can at least double dip; while I am on reserve I am usually working another job and therefore, at least in my mind, I am getting paid a decent wage. May 5th is the hire date so I will get second year pay after that and hopefully I will be able to survive.

I think i'm gonna go up to CDC with a lawn chair and a 12-pack and watch the reaction of the passengers when a 1900 with 12 different paint jobs pulls up.........

Pulls up to that brand new terminal that Cedar City just built in a trashed 1900 I think I'll join ya in watching.

sweet....might as well get a keg....anyone else wanna join?? :D

For some reason I am not worried about this. When Mesa is booted from CDC, SkyWest will be much more appreciated, IMO.

Yeup. These EAS cities shuffle all the time. It won't take but a year or two for the locals to revolt and offer to pay twice the ticket price to get Skywest back.

Too bad it doesn't work that way everywhere...

What about T/O's at full weight?

Anyone have time in a 1900? Elevation of the airport is 5600ft with DA pushing 9000ft during the afternoon in summer. Wondering if they can even leave with a full load out of a 8600ft runway?

I lived in Farmington, NM. Elevation 5500. Hot as heck in the summer (not as bad as Phoenix but it would top 100 every now and then). I flew on several 1900 flights during my time there, and sometimes they were limited to 16-18 people. I'm not sure if the problem was PHX or FMN, however.

The longest R/W in FMN was a little under 7000' I believe.

We used to run the 1900 into Leadville, CO.

It can do it. Not a problem.

(~850 hours in a 1900)
