SkyWest buying Comair?

Right - I suppose I should clarify my comments.

Taking into consideration what companies OWN more than one regional carrier. Repuplic Holdings, Mesa, and now Skywest (and dare I say Pinnacle [considering the purchase of Colgan?]). We may slowly begin to see an increase in companies "purchasing" other 121 regionals as a way to increase their control of mainline flying from the majors. Hence, the increased market share (of regional flying).

Part of me thinks it's a bad idea, where part of me is partially okay with it. Knowing that the field of competition is slowly getting smaller in a sense (under one roof) - but the increased whipsaw potential from greedy management gets me everytime.

Where did the skywest connection come from? I cant imagine them buying Comair because they already have ASA. My understanding was Skywest bought ASA becuase of its assests but also to get Delta 70 seat flying (it now also has -900 flying). What would be to gain by buying Comair besides more headaches and the possibiluity of ASA and Comair getting togeter to put pressure on SkyW pilots to join ALPA as well?

I like the SkyWest part! :sarcasm: I'd be a gazilillionaire if I believed every mention of Comair being sold off.;) I heard the conversation between two of the chief pilot's today. Their pick was if it were to happen, we would be solo like we were before the Delta aquisition. I like that option, but I still prefer to be a subsidiary, but's that's my own personal opinion. We'll just have to wait and see after April 30th.

I've only been here for about 8 months, but most of the Captains I have flown with have been around when DL bought the company. The general feeling is that this was a great place to work for in the past. When DL stepped in they drove this airline into the ground. I don't know what it was truly like b4. But everyone is praying that DL sells us off.

P.S.
take this for what it's worth (which is about nothing) but some people who think they are in the know feel that DL will keep us and increase our flying to keep it in-house(amongst the Delta companies). I call extreme B.S.!!

I heard Doug and Kristi were buying them. He has "plans" for that Academy down in Sanford. Hey, just passing on what I heard. ;)

Oh, that academy had plans for me alright. But my ALPA attorney and my private attorney in Texas had other plans! ;)

Well I've been a week and two days. I was just coming back up to CVG from home and the FA was talking to me about it. She really scared me, and I couldn't concentrate on my book for part of the flight. When I got in found it wasn't a for sure thing yet, that relieved me. She told me to run far away, as if I was going to get canned/furloughed. Blah... Thank goodness it doesn't seem to be like that. As long as I can make it through training and get some time out there.

So does DCA have to change their marketing strategy now? "It really doesn't mean everything to be owned by Delta!"
