My understanding was that SkWest was fat on pilots. What did I miss?
They're not in line. Different company. What about the ASA furloughs? Where do they fall in line?
Either way, as recent as last week my good friend who is there was telling me they are overstaffed, still offering LOAs, reduced line credit, etc. That would be great if a class is starting though.
They didn't go into specifics, but from what i've been told the block hours shot WAY up, like CRAZY up for 2010 and beyond.
Here's the memo:They didn't go into specifics, but from what i've been told the block hours shot WAY up, like CRAZY up for 2010 and beyond.
All,
Finally we have some really good news to report. This coming year our block times have increased substantially over what we flew in 2008 and 2009. Our early projections show that pilot monthly credit hours will be at 90+ hours with higher numbers in June, July, August and December. In addition to the increased flying we will be cranking up the training department.
A CRJ captain class for 8 will be held sometime in February and another in March. Along with the 16 Captains we will be hiring sixteen new first officers. Although this is a small number when compared to hiring during 2006 and 2007 it is still a significant step, especially when we have not furloughed any pilot during the downturn in the economy. Something very few carriers can be proud to say..
If you have questions on the bid process for these new positions please review Crew Policy SP 323. Bids will close on January 3, 2010.

What does the contract say? oh wait... nevermind.I'm pretty sure the process is:
1. United furloughees
2. ASA furloughees
3. Poolies
4. Interviewies
It's only 16 people. I'm pretty sure they're going to go to the poolies first since they're already hired, then the UA furloughed, ASA furloughed then street people.
