Hi there,
Pretty interesting to see their ad here. I didn't notice it until after reading your post. I instruct on the same field as SkyMates and I use them when I want to rent a plane for personal use. Very convenient since it is right on the other side of the field.
They have a good staff, a nice online scheduling program, and have been updating their fleet with new interiors, avionics, and paint. Nice assortment of 152's, 172's including SP's, an Arrow, and several Seminoles.
Owner is great too. Prices increased recently for Fuel reasons. A little high, but competitive for the area. Block rates are available as well.

its one of our(DCA'S)old ones. was used for traffic watch for a while. Gotta be near TBO by now.

that comment could be taken two ways.
1. either the plane's engines have been used quite a bit and your noting thats its been a trusty workhorse thats put in many years of service
(btw how do you know they havent overhauled them?)
2. or your making a thinly veiled stab at these guys by saying they are using "dangerous" worn out POS equipment.
why dont you clarify for us ok?
You sure seem to perk up when you can find something bad about another school that competes with Comair Academy. Remember the MAPD bonanza crash comments right here

Just saying that if we sold it off it had to be pretty high time and I do know it was near TBO when we sold it. your right, maybe they did overhaul it. I know nothing of skymates and have no reason to have a "thinly vailed stab" at them. Just thought it was funny to see one of our old planes on their banner. nothing more nothing less. take it as you wish

Felt like I should respond to this one since I work for the guys:
Yup, we have a couple of Seminoles from other flight schools. Nope, we don't fly them after 14,500hrs. on the spar. We either sell 'em or get them refurbished to like new. They're cheap to buy and safe to fly. We're have some of the least expensive twins to rent in the nation, that's why people want to come from all over the U.S. and Europe to fly with us.
Does that mean they're not safe, because they're enexpensive? Nope. Believe me, I have a pretty good sense of self preservation- I wouldn't be flying the things to Arizona, Virginia, Florida, etc. if they weren't airworthy.
I don't think the previous post was a stab at us. If someone is worried about our aircraft, I'd rather have it out in the open to talk about rather than never hear about it at all. So hey, if you have any questions, let me know!!

I just talked with some one there, so you all know incase you do the same thing I did--they list the number as a 1-886 number twice at the top and that number does not work. But it's listed as 1-866 at the bottom, that is the correct number. I let them know, so maybe they will fix it, but in the mean time, you all can call the right number /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif The Seminole price was about $50 more an hour than UVSC's price, so even though UVSC only has one, it will benefit us to stay with that one.

I'm curious about which flight school you are going to through UVSC- we take UVSC students as well (I have one that's almost multi commercial now...) and would like to stay competitive. Are they 50 dollars cheaper per hour? for the whole program? We'd like to have your business, so maybe we can make it benefit you to come with us. Having 4 Seminoles makes it a lot easier to schedule than just one /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

My husband says that UVSC charges $129 an hour for their Seminole. They do only have one, but it is new. And it is in the city we live in which sure makes it nice lol. I don't know what you mean by "WHICH Flight School" we are going through, it's just UVSC. But now he is looking at maybe Mesa PACE or something. I dunno what he's doing. I think the deal with Utah Valley State College is that they offer online classes and student loans to people around the country, and they'll put you in contact with the closest participating flight school. I guess since you're already in Utah, UVSC has thier own flight school or something like that.
Oh yeah, I think I was the one who spoke to you on the phone- and trying desparately to explain the vagaries of the whole saftey-pilot-logging-pilot-in-command thing. It's always nice to meet someone in person whom you have only known on the internet. If we can do something for you in the future, like an MEI ar ATP, please get in touch!

I don't want to be the wet towel or anything, but on your new ad. Professional is spelled wrong. It's tough to catch it since it flashes by so quickly but you guys spelled it with two "F's".
