Skydiving pilot update

So last week I mentioned that I was heading from PHL to BNA to try out my hand at piloting jumpers in hopes of landing a job near where I live. I'm still not home yet (I'm in Atlanta) but here's the brief update.

I arrived at BNA and took a taxi across field to Atlantic. Well, actually the cab driver told me there was no Atlantic aviation and kicked me out at Signature. He was just unhappy that his only ride all day was a $11 fare on the airport grounds.

The King Air rolled up shortly afterwards and I hopped into the right seat so the boss could see how I flew. Mind you this was at 11 at night and I had been up since 6 am and only got 3 hours of sleep the night before.

We flew 30 or 40 miles west and landed at the jump airport, and I was wisked off to the motel.

The next day I flew a half dozen loads under the guidance of the boss. Honestly, I knew the skill set was different, but really diddn't understand what jump pilots are doing. Much respect :)

So to make the story real short - eventually a mechanical issue forced our hand over the weekend, so we had to fly it to another airport for repair and pick up a caravan. I haven't decided which plane I like better.

I flew the van back to the jump airport and did a day of that, then dropped the plane back off at it's origin airport. We flew the King air to another repair station (since the defect was legal to fly, but needed to be fixed)

So now I'm in Atlanta (we had to fly a 210 to another airport after dropping off the king air.)

I'm now in a niiiiice hotel (go marriott!) instead of the motel. Things are still messed up, so I'm not sure what airplanes I'll be flying over the next few days, but hopefully by the weeks end we can pound out the details on landing the job.

More when I get home.

By the way, you can build a green snowman out of all the pollen blowing around in Atlanta.

Nice man! So, will this job be in BNA or where you live? Do you still live in PA? Keep us updated. I applied to a few jump pilot jobs as a lot of them are popping up right now, but no luck so far.
