Skybus=$10 Tickets

So let me get this straight. Everyone is pissed because they are offering a $10 fare?

Sounds like the airlines are damned either way! So if they were offering only $500.00 fares then they would be great?

Over here Ryan Air (not affiliated with Ryan Air International) offers fares that start at $0.01. Yet somehow they have brand new 737-800s, are making record profits, offer their crew good pay and benefits and enjoy the best on-time and lost luggage statistics.

If you are not interested in being nickel and dimed to death then don't fly them. The theory behind these low far airlines is to only charge for the services they actually render. This saves both the airline and passenger money.

Why anyone would want them to fail is beyond me. Skybus will generate jobs and money for local economies. The last thing we need is for yet another airline to fail.

At least in Europe Ryan Air has forced powerhouses like Lufthansa and BA to take notice and realize that they must really offer something better if they want to keep there passenger on their jets.

I'm sure Virgin America will be a stand up company, but my concern is that everyone was so "OOOO-AAAAAH'd" into Virgina America that they ignored to see SkyBus coming up the river with it's in-excusable work rules and quality for it's passengers.

My point exactly - everyone was more worried about Virgin America, instead of what was really occurring - SkyBus. WAKE UP. Horrible quality, from British aviation figures are coming to America. . .you ignored SkyBus until it was right under our noses - and now look?

No, everyone is pissed because of how little they pay their employees... And I know I am even more pissed that people are actually going and flying for this sad excuse for an airline for $65k/yr CA on a 'bus. Even worse, the FAs get $9/hr with no per diem. Why would anyone do that to themselves?

It is my understanding that skybus is also doing some sort of pay for training deal. I wonder if they are going to code-share with Gulfstream! :insane:

You think passengers complain they don't get a whole can of Coke when they pay $75 for a ticket? Wait till they pay $10 and then have to pay AGAIN for a drink....and to check their bag.....and for the peanuts.....and for the 9/11 security fee. I wonder if Skybus is gonna hand out itemized receipts with every flight so you can see how much you "saved" by flying them.

I agree with whomever said it. I think they'll get a lot of one time fliers, and people will get tired of being nickel and dimed to death. I don't think many people will say "Well, I only paid $10 for the fare, so I guess it's okay to pay to check my bag and buy food on the plane," I think they'll say "WHAT! But I already PAID for the ticket!" There's a reason all inclusive cruises are a big hit with Americans.....

Are you sure about that? The info below comes from someone in the loop...

Hmm...sounds like Walmart. Welcome to Skybus, the new Walmart of airlines!

From what I gathered it seems like they are counting on everything working 100%, on time, and as it should.

Some people might not care.

But I certainly do.

And many others do as well.

I don't care how low the price is, if you're gonna treat me like these jokers do -- and then lie about never being late like they are -- I ain't flying you.

Not even if the ticket's ten cents.

What are you talking about? They haven't flown their first flight. How can they already be late? How can they be lying about never being late on flights they have yet to fly?

To me, that along with most of the other bullet points they mentioned just gives a very unprofessional image for the company. Customer service is important. "Don't call us, we don't have a number" doesn't cut it.

I'll admit that I'm like the majority of the flying public and am always looking for the lowest fares. But when the airline treats you like they are doing you favor it just doesn't work.

Take Jetblue for example. True that they've recently had their share of problems. But when I flew with them from FLL to JFK we paid very little for the tickets and the airline still provided very comfortable seats, entertainment system, AND food and drinks. That's how you do it.
