SKW pay proposal

because mgmt doesn't view the bro as significant to the future of the company. i'm disappointed about that snub but not surprised. i'm surprised and disappointed about the pathetic increase for new hires.

I heard something along the lines of this:

1% base increase to -200 rates
5% further increase for a -700/900 override
No increase for Bro pilots
No retro pay
Override is only paid for actual 700/900 flight time (a couple exceptions) and will only be paid IF you break daily AND monthly guarantee.
4 year "duration"

Could someone who actually sees the printed version tomorrow post what it says? Mucho Gracias

So to someone who doesnt know how and what this means can someone break it down to basic terms or an example?

An extra $19 per month as a new-hire
An extra $29 per month as a CRJ200 FO
An extra $0 per month as a Bro FO
An extra $50 per month as a CRJ200 CA
An extra $0 per month as a Bro CA
An extra $130 per month as a CRJ700/900 FO
An extra $227 per month as a CRJ700/900 CA

Perhaps guys who have been with SKW longer could let us know what they think the management response to a NO vote would be.
Brad: "Hey, Jerry, the pilots voted no on the pay package."
Jerry: "Really? Hmm. Hey, what's for lunch?"

<2 years later>
Here's a 1.3% raise for the jet, 4.8% override for the 70/90, pay-cut for the Bro and a free pony ride for everyone*

(*"everyone" does not include Brasilia pilots)

Wait, I just looked at this. People say PCL has a low starting wage for the CRJ FOs, but this raise would STILL keep Skywest FOs paid LESS than PCL. Um, sorry guys. Think you might need to keep fighting the good fight.

If you don't like the first year FO pay at SkyWest, just upgrade in the EMB after 7 months. First year pay sucks, but second year pay is well above average.

If you take all 50 seat payrates and add the first 3 years as an FO you'll find the averages pretty well match up, with Skywest near the top. Add in the profit sharing and it tops the list.

Nope, it's still near the top, but Expressjet, Comair and others still pay better including our profit-sharing (and theirs.) Although you wouldn't know that from the information SAPA/SGU provided us.

Great. Meanwhile, that would be 7 months of mortgage, student loan payments, grocery bills, etc. Sorry, I don't buy the "but you upgrade fast" arguement, especially when that could change at the drop of the hat. I also don't like the "well, if you average the first three years..." arguement either. Why? B/c you don't make the average of the first three years, you make what you make in those years. What if the pay was $15 for year 1, $30 for year 2, and $40 for year 3? The average would be $28 an hour, but that's still $13 more an hour than you make first year. Meanwhile, the bills still keep coming in, and they won't take average payments.

I agree that second year is well above average, but that doesn't help if all your stuff is in collections by the time you get there.....

Flightinfo called; they want their members back.

On a side note, difference in skywest first year pay vs. pinnacle: -$1800.00 ($19 vs $21)

Difference in skywest second year pay vs. pinnacle: $9900.00 ($35 vs $24)

Regional pilots who all work for peanuts (including myself): priceless
