I flew into Sioux Falls a couple months ago and they were calling OVC008, when in reality it was much closer to OVC004. Broke out at minimums on the GPS 15 approach and remember it clearly because I thought at the time how off their ceiling report had been. Next few aircraft in line behind me went missed.

Have no idea what happened to this Bonanza, but it's possible the weather was worse than OVC008.

Nah. People who do something so obviously dumb that they should be dead, but aren’t, and blame whatever negative outcome occurs on something trivial.

That’s worded better. We’ve all (or most) done something dumb and survived in spite of it. Most learn from it and correct their mistakes.

Does Jerry knowingly and intentionally do dumb things? I don't believe he does. He thinks he's doing everything correct. When he tries to explain what happened in the comment section, he doesn't know what the hell he's talking about.

I’ve always attributed that to he knows what he did wrong but his magical powers of self rationalization justify his actions, whether he says that or not.
