Single Pilot Partial Panel Currency

I assume I'm in the minority when it comes to covering up failed instruments such as the AI during partial panel work. My instructor and I have been hitting partial panel pretty hard during my CMEL sim sessions, and he always comments on the fact that I don't cover it up. I just block it from my scan. Once I confirm it's failed, it's a piece of information I stop allowing into my scan / brain.

Regardless, great job getting the Mooney back on the ground!

Thanks - and a side note for you - I thought the same way about ignoring the inop gauges as well... until I really experienced a failure. Under duress I caught myself in a 30deg bank twice before I finally covered up the AI. Your experience may vary, but don't leverage your life on it. Practice covering up the gauges, and live to post about it later... just in case. Stay safe!
