No doubt. Pizza, beer and bufallo wings tonight at the Taylor hogan!

Doug,

Speaking of things to eat. Lest you think going to a NASCAR race means having junk food, here's din-din at Tallaedga!

Fellow retiree who goes with me likes to cook...so he is "Chef Donnie!".

Sets a pretty nice spread. Even to the point of having grilled mangoes, with walnuts, basted in honey, with ice cream, for desert! That's after steaks, baked potato, and asparagus grilled in his secret sauce! All with a fine beverage...BEER! Life is good!

All this at the "Rollin' Condo"!

Hurry up and retire! You can't believe how nice it is. Stress level is only affected by the decision of what to PUT OFF doing today!

Ahh! That looks delish!

The only problem, asparagus makes my pee stink for days!

Speaking of “Firsts”…I mentioned the B52 circumnavigation of the earth back in the 50s. They were the early models that had the gunner in the rear. Two of the tree gunners rode up front, but one elected to remain in the tail gunner position for the entire flight. Came the first man, and probably to this day the ONLY man to fly around the world, BACKWARD! Now that’s an accomplishment!

I can't argue with that

.

Just one final thing...read that book I suggested before you write off that danger of sailing. This particular race isn't the Americas' Cup in sunny weather and good seas. This is the race of death, and talk about fragile these boats might as well be made of balsa wood.

I call this argument over, because it's dumb to argue over some rich guy.

I don't know if it's that book specifically or even that race, but I watched a show about some of those around the world yacht races. It centered on crossing the South Pacific especially at the lower latitudes (higher number) to get the high winds. Amazing how much chaos there is! Between the wind and the sea, all in the name of going fast! Of all the things I might think about it, there is extreme danger in what they do. I take my hat off to those folks.

Speaking of yacht races. I had a long San Diego layover back when the Americas Cup race was being run there. Got a chance to go see some of the boats up close and personal. I was amazed at how much sail could come out of what appeared to my untrained eye such a small boat. There just wasn’t that much above the water line, especially when I looked up at that main mast. Impressive feats of technology to say the least! Took the two bit party barge trip out to watch the races. Big disappointment as all it appeared to be was random tacking. Best vantage to me was the TV coverage where all that could be laid out and explained to us novices! Plus that big party barge couldn’t get that close to the course. But the booze was free and the ladies friendly!

I wouldn't call it an argument...more of a civil discourse over differing opinions of an event. Kid of like those poor souls over in NASCAR land who think junior is better than Jeff Gordon! gahhh....there I go again!

Doug,

Almost forgot...Mz B, my blushing bride turned 62 today. Now she get's social security but I have to wait until August....gahhhhh is there nothing sacred any more?

And...Sir Cheever the cat turned one!

So have you both developed the 'taste' for liver 'n onions? Doesn't that come hand-in-hand with the AARP membership and first social security check?

Hell no! Beer and braut is still the staple around here! None of that damned "healthy cuisine" crap!

Speaking of AARP...somehow I ended up with a membership, I think a trick on my by Mz B! I told then to shove it when they started coming out with all the anti social security reform stuff! Talk about heads in....well...er...sand as most of them aren't limber enough to put them somewhere else!

Funny, well not so funny thing. With the "social security offset" thing from Delta, we end up losing about 40 % of the social security we start drawing. Plus we get taxed on 85% of what we get. Doing it more out of principle...want to make the system go broke! You know, spend my kids inheritance!

BTW whun you gonna git a spull chekker on thes borad?

Well, that was on my 'to do' list that I always forget to look at!
