Yeah I was just askin. The cba reads funny. You can interpret it both ways. I figure if I’m going to stick scheduling to their end, then they can stick it to me. 15 days in a 22” roll on so I don’t have lots of room anyway
The CBA says no such thing. There's a lot of "tribal knowledge" in it due to past settled grievances and what each party at this time interprets sections. Next time, reach out to your union and they'll be very happy to help..... I assume. I haven't dealt with the Southern guys.

To drive the point home not only doesn't it say that, but if it did it would be impossible to deadhead on an international carrier. Which we do quite a bit of.
No one will let you board in uniform except American carriers. Absolutely no one is going to let you sit in business or first in uniform.
CX won't even give you a boarding pass in uniform and let you go change.

That’s true. We deadhead on Cathay all the time and are very explicitly told do NOT deadhead in uniform.

This is true. Mileage varies greatly so it never hurts to ask... unless you are MIA.
I’ve found the MIA agents to be the nicest in the system by far. They are usually on your side and not worried about the higher ups opinions.

In my experience with gateway travel and/or commercial deadheads, being in uniform created more problems than it solved. If I was getting on a 7 AM flight after flying all night I would usually at least take the white shirt off and throw on a polo. I used to go in uniform when KCM rules were different, but the way it is now, there is really no reason to travel in uniform. If you don't have KCM, I could see still going in uniform, since it is technically against the rules to change after going through security in uniform (or at least it used to be). Even in Kuwait where it was supposedly required to be in uniform on a commercial, it seemed to create confusion if you were in uniform (and you couldn't get into the lounge).

Also I would never stop by the cockpit if I was on a paid ticket, unless you recognized a friend and wanted to say hello or something. Every airline has different cultures though. I know at my present shop it is expected that you ask the captain for permission even on a company deadhead; I have heard captains bad-mouth dead-headers that did not specifically ask for permission to ride.
