Sim training dress

What did you guys wear to sim training? I dont want to show up and be the only one in a shirt and tie, but I certainly dont want to show up and be the only one in a jeans and t-shirt. What is the general consensus?

Thanks
Kurt

Trying to remember, but I'm pretty sure i just wore jeans and a polo every day. Your company dress code should be fine. With all of the money that's being paid, they won't kick you out of the sim.

Kurt,

...I'm 100% serious when I say this.

If you show up in a full "fighter pilot" flight suit (complete with helmet and mask), get a picture with you and your sim instructor in the sim and post it here...

I'll give you a dollar. Totally serious. Anyone else willing to pitch in?

I got a buck to that

Boy we've come a long way in a mere 12 years. When I started out in this industry you showed up for day 1 of indoc in a suit and tie. Then business casual (collared shirt and khaki pants minimum) until the day of your oral and checkride -- those days you wore the suit and tie again.

How things have changed...

It's still like that at AMF. The only difference is that we had to wear uniforms during the flight training/IOE portion. Yeah yeah... I know it's weird for 135 freight.

I think a full suit may be a bit extreme for someone about to jump into a clapped out freighter, but I could certainly jump on board with shirt and tie during training. Except the day you jump out the window...don't want to ruin a good pair of pants.

I never run into you guys anywhere. Do you wear traditional uniforms on the line? I know there's a few operators out there that do.

Yeah we do. We are allowed a little wiggle room with the pants though. I wear a pair of durable blue dress khaki's. Some pilots opt to go with dickie's. I stopped wearing the dickies because they start to look tacky when they fade. But yeah...we wear the shirt, tie, epaulets and etc...

Our on demand pilots out in Cincinatti get to wear a polo shirt with the company logo and blue slacks.

With my company we use the facilities at flight safety but use a company training captain (sa-227). I just wore my company uniform... jeans and our company shirt. When I rolled in I was (along with the 2 others from my company) the most underdressed person at flight safety. Nothing like not shaving for a week, not getting a haircut for 6 months, wearing old jeans/clothes , and trying to strike up a conversation with people going through Republic training. I wouldn't recommend this (probably not the most professional), but I did get a lot of looks that entertained me greatly.

I do love flying freight.

Marcos keeps the atmosphere relaxed and laid back. Wear kakhis and a polo shirt. If you wear a uniform or a tie you will disrupt the biorhythm of the training enviroment and may be sent to the the DC10 sim by mistake.
