I am working towards my multi cpl part 61 and will like to if the frasca time i got during my IR and multi engine training can be credited towards my total hours 250.

For example, i have total 230hours and 30 hours frasca, am i qualified to do the cpl pratical test?

Thanks in advance

You can use up to 50 hours of sim time towards your commercial
.

§ 61.129 (i) Permitted credit for use of a flight simulator or flight training device.

(1) Except as provided in paragraph (i)(2) of this section, an applicant who has not accomplished the training required by this section in a course conducted by a training center certificated under part 142 of this chapter may:
(i) Credit a maximum of 50 hours toward the total aeronautical experience requirements for an airplane or powered-lift rating, provided the aeronautical experience was obtained from an authorized instructor in a flight simulator or flight training device that represents that class of airplane or powered-lift category and type, if applicable, appropriate to the rating sought
(2) An applicant who has accomplished the training required by this section in a course conducted by a training center certificated under part 142 of this chapter may:
(i) Credit a maximum of 100 hours toward the total aeronautical experience requirements of this section for an airplane and powered-lift rating, provided the aeronautical experience was obtained from an authorized instructor in a flight simulator or flight training device that represents that class of airplane or powered-lift category and type, if applicable, appropriate to the rating sought; and

I thought sim time could only apply to the commercial if you were training under 141
Each 141 program is unique.

Most 141 programs follow the 141 FAR to the letter, but some do have approved deviations from the 141 outline that exists as FAR 141.

With that said, if you are doing a 141 program, the amount of sim hours approved for that course will be printed in and for that course.

Your Frasca time counts towards the part 61 CPL as long as long as your were working with a CFII at the time. Solo FTD time never counts towards anything.

gong..... guess again. see post number 5.

61.129 (i) .....FTD......

The OP was vague and i misunderstood. You can use the FTD time as part of the total time requirements of the commercial, but that FTD time itself does not count as total time.

FTD time counts toward "total time" exactly to the same extent as a "true simulator."

If you're talking about total "pilot" time, see FAR 61.1(b)(12).
Both "true simulators" and FTDs count toward "pilot time"

If you're talking about total "flight" time, see the definition of "flight time" in FAR 1.1. Neither "true simulators" nor FTDs count toward "flight time."

Huh??? It counts as part of the requirements of the commercial which in turn requires 250 TT so yes it does count.

ex.

I have

180 TT (flight time)
30 hours (frasca ftd)

so right now I have 210 of the 250TT required for the commercial. I can use up to 20 more hours of FTD time to get me to 230TT then I would need 20 hours of flight time.

You're calling "TT" as "total time", when we interpret "TT" to mean "total flight time".

So, you can have 200 hours "total flight time", added to the 50 hours sim time, which complies with the FAR of substituting 50 hours sim time for flight time. But that does not make it "flight time", and should not be included as total time.

It's just a matter of the terminology, but TT does not include your sim time.

"Does a PCATD or BATD count towards this requirement?"

It depends. I think some of the more advanced Elites do. You should google your model of PCATD.

re-read the reg that lets you use the FTD time. It says you may *credit* time toward the flight time requirement, not that it counts as flight time.

ie, if you have 230TT and 20 FTD, you only have 230TT, but you may credit that 20 FTD time toward the 250 hour requirement, allowing you to qualify for the practical test.

Its just like the exception for the ATP that allows night takeoffs and landings (above 20) to be credited 1 landing for 1 hour of night experience toward the total night time experience requirement. You dont have any more night experience in that case, but the rules allow you a credit for other experience to qualify. 61.159(b).

so did anyone ever settle what happens to the kid at UND with his "B747" time.....simulated...by microsoft..... which was WRITTEN INTO HIS LOGBOOK?!?!?!
