Signature of Qualifications - Go or no go?

So if you look at my signature, it has a brief description of my professional qualifications. I did this as another JC member had brought up the idea of doing it a few years back. The idea was that it would immediately clue people in on who they were talking to.

Recently, I have noticed I am one of few that actually does it anymore, perhaps adding a flavor of 'arrogance' to my online persona.

So my poll would be to ask everyone here if they think it has any merit, or should it be omitted?

Takes up space on my screen, never a big fan of forum sigs. And anyone that has been around here a while pretty much has a good idea of everyone else's experience (or in my case, lack thereof).
 
The only people I see here that regularly were doing it were the ATC forum people, who had sig lines about class dates, what stage they were, etc.

It was something Ian suggested a couple years ago. For a good period, alot of us were doing it. I dunno why it stopped or started. At the time, it seemed the conclusion was mixed, but alot of folks had started doing it. I am thinking I will stop as I like to go with the flow as much as possible. I was just curious on what others thought about it now.
 
As soon as I see something like your sig I skip over. Put something funny down there I'll read it.

It's a forum, I don't care about being professional. Unless someone wants to pay me, send me a check, you can have my professionalism, my resume, I'll even sit across from you and say I care about your opinions.

Interesting thought. I also don't know when the fad came and went. There are still some here and there, but I haven't paid close enough attention to notice the shift until you mentioned it here. I personally think its neither here nor there......if someone wants to put it there, fine. If not, fine too. It doesn't necessarily change how I look at them.
 
I use to have something similar and now I don't. Don't really know why.

Then no signature would be the ultimate. ;)

Personally, I could care less. There is no accountability with signatures so anyone can create anything they want. If a "signature of qualifications" promotes your cause, go for it. If I'm looking for a particular set of credentials, I can always start a thread. My 0.02.
 
I personally don't care and rearely view the sig. If I was in a position of hiring, I would ask for a resume.

If you sound like a tool answering a question it doesn't matter what your experience is, likewise, if you sound like you know what you're talking about, I don't need reaffirmation of qualifications.

I merely use a sig to generate traffic to personal sites, if any are up at the time...since I have had a few, but they generally fall to disuse after about a year

Absolutely no idea. The last time I was in Altus it was 1996 I believe. I was only there for a few months in 94 (Basic 141) and airdrop in 96. I have no recollection of wind direction, or even stockyards actually.
 
I personally think it's a bit flashy myself. A couple years ago when flightlogg.in came out, I noticed a lot of people liked to have that in their signiture. To me, that's more like, "Hey look at me."
