Has anyone ever done their CFI program or know of anyone that has? Im just trying to get a little more information on wheather its a good place or not. I see that they pay for you training and you are reimbursed after 1 year or 1000 duel given . Any help would be appreciated

Well thats not good. I was told by someone to check them out so i was just trying to get a little info on them.

I had a good experience with ATP in North Las Vegas. They don't reimburse but I'd imagine you could instruct there afterward, if I hadn't already been gainfully employed at the time I might have done that. It's drinking from the firehose, for sure, but the more you prepare the easier it will be, and they made absolutely sure that I got every hour I had paid for, which I didn't expect.

I don't know what Sierra is like right this second, but I've heard enough that I personally would stay away.

I actually went to ATP in Daytona Beach for their 90 day fast track program and received both commercial and instrument, but at the time i decided not to do the CFI.

I did my CFI/CFII/MEI in Vegas at ATP as all. Honestly, anything that has to do wth Sierra I would stay away from.

The problem Is ATP no longer offers the cfi classes unless you are in the "pro pilot" course from the beginning. I'm not sure about students who went there for all other ratings...have to call them.

Anyways...Sierra will train you for free. Feed you for free. House you for free. Then pay you $17-$20 per hour to instruct with an average of 100 per month.

I have not done this yet, but financially it seems like a decent gig. I have talked to a couple Sierra instructors on here that say its a decent place and is what you make of it. And there are the ones who say they hate it. The ones that hate it have mentioned the area, management, and students as down sides. The area isn't fun (I've been there). The students are foreigners that may be hard to communicate with. And I'm told management can be grumpy if you make them mad. Such as, not giving you enough students so you only fly 30hrs per month.

Someone on the other thread mentioned a $250k fine from the faa for not complying with an AD. Even if it is true, don't let that scare you. Those sort of penalties are rather common. Heck, do a google search of the faa fines that ATP has received....I dare you! That can be something as simple as miscommunication. Or as bad as just ignoring the faa...who knows. As an instructor, YOU are responsible for checking your airplane for legalities and compliance.

All-in-all, based on my research of the place I am strongly considering it. I recommend researching the area and look up reviews for the school and make your own decision based on what you need/want.

As I mentioned in the other thread, I have the training contract if you want me to email it to you. It goes over how much they will charge you if you left. Goes over pay, and all that good stuff....

Induction coming at 10 am tomorrow!
No more waiting around then I guess. Both of you try and get some rest tonight. How's your wife feeling? Probably more than ready to have this over with. Good luck!!!

Fines and certificate actions are most certainly not common for 141 schools. Most schools have a good relationship with their inspectors and fix issues on the spot or by the next inspection.
I just punched in "flight schools fined by faa" on google and there were 7 different ones on the first page.

I'm not saying its good. I'm just saying that things happen and you get fined. Getting fined should not change someone's opinion about working there. Now I could see it changing your opinion if it happened continuously.

Look at all the fines that airlines have received. Does that make Delta, or united a company you would not work for?? I doubt it.

All I'm saying is the fine is irrelevant.

I will try to find it in my work email tomorrow. If I were you, I would give them a call and see if they are still offering to train people for the contract. I'm not sure if it was a temporary offer to get some quick CFIs.

I emailed them called them twice and never got a call back. I guess they aren't hurting for cfis that bad. This was in January.
