Should pt 135 pilots be FFDOs?

Nothing is preventing a 135 guy from carrying with a CCW. Just abide by local and state regs. Nothing says you can’t.
I say, if you can keep a bazooka in your pocket, even under the most inappropriate conditions... FREAKING DO IT!

Better yet, a thermonuclear device. 'Cause... MY RAAAAIIIIIGHTS!

Eeeeeek a gun!

All that being said, I'm staunchly pro 2a, but I don't see much benefit to the FFDO program.

Prior to KCM, FFDO was awesome. Less practical now.

That being said, on a number of my work trips now, a govt. issued HK would be like bringing a water gun to a tank fight… so… yeah.

So then, if that's true, what in 121 prevents a 121 guy from carrying with a CCW?

121 service is scheduled. Known destinations, each with some form of sterile area. 135 is not always scheduled, and it would be impossible to stay ahead of all possible regulations.

For example VNY, BOS, TEB, MMSD, & SGR are some examples of popular destinations for 91/135 and each has radically different local laws regarding firearms.

So are FBOs gonna all install little gun lock boxes to hold a pistol when you get an ASAP from XXY to somewhere in the not US? And then you'll be back to said FBO in 3 years... HOLD MY GUN!!

Why not let everyone open carry? There was a lot less killing per capita in the old west.
EVERYONE knew to behave themselves or to get ready to ”slap leather!” It was a pretty good system of environmentally-induced self-control.

This would work great at the airports. Guarantee no one would even THINK about storming the cockpit! And the first d*** that runs from the back as soon as the seat belt sign goes off gets dropped in the aisle. Him, and MAYBE one other world wide, and no one else tries it again. You let Your fat spill over both sides of your center seat….BAM! The country goes on a diet! :sarcasm:

So I have to buy a second seat for my BAR?

there was a lot of Gun control in the old west too, like not being allowed to carry a gun in town.

To Provide against Carrying of Deadly Weapons" (effective April 19, 1881).

Section 1. It is hereby declared unlawful to carry in the hand or upon the person or otherwise any deadly weapon within the limits of said city of Tombstone, without first obtaining a permit in writing.

Section 2: This prohibition does not extend to persons immediately leaving or entering the city, who, with good faith, and within reasonable time are proceeding to deposit, or take from the place of deposit such deadly weapon.

Shop keepers, home owners etc were still allowed to have them, many were issued permits. The law mostly applied to “outsiders” however the people of tombstone were certainly armed as most household had a firearm then, despite the “carry” prohibition. They still got to strap up when riding out of town, or returning.

Tombstone had a gun store in city limits, required no ID, proof of character nor restrictions based on past charges and convictions literally anybody could walk in a buy a nice new colt or Winchester. A bunch of the Clanton’s and McLaury’s were shopping there immediately before the shootout.

Relative to “gun” control, most every law was against weapons in general, not specifically guns, very few laws specifically outlawed them.
