Shoes

I'm in the market for new shoes for flying. I'm looking for a pair that 1.) is comfortable 2.) will make it past the TSA screening without having to take them off, and 4.) look good. Any suggestions? How do I know if they will pass the detector or not without just buying them and trying?

Thanks!

TSA confiscated #3 during the screening process. Something about "3" now being dangerous and on the watch list. I'm not really sure.

or... I just can't count. We will leave that up for others to decide.

I am not, but if you are into cowboy boots ariat ropers look classy, and are super comfortable. Plus with the carbon fiber shank there is no problems going through the metal detectors

Echo's, spendy for my work shoes, but the more I wear them the more comfortable they become. After 1 year of more than 40+ hours a week in them they are just becoming broken in.

Seriously. I've had two pairs now. Love 'em.

You're going to have to take your footwear off at security (okay, okay, maybe that only applies to us Part 91 guys?) regardless.

One of the older pilots at the air ambulance outfit im at puts on his black Etnies skate shoes when he is going flying. it looks kinda funny but skate shoes are really comfortable.

I bought a pair of really light Supra skate shoes at CCS. I felt like a highschooler when I was there, but I thought they would work real good for CFIing... I haven't found out yet.

A few of the medevac pilots at work wear these:

+1 I am on my 3rd pair in something like 8 years. I tried Justin but they are no where near as comfortable. (At least for me) Best 119.00 I ever spent. I have a friend that likes the Red Wing Roper too. Think he has had them for about 15 years.
