Shoes, pants, the little stuff ...

I know someone who wears race car shoes. They look like the Oakley flying shoes which I don't think they make anymore.

I'm done with the Docs

GRR...

First they started making them in China recently, and now Nike owns them.

Dagnabbit.

I suppose they're going to go for 'style' over 'comfort', reduce quality and charge more for the shoes. I hope those numbnuts know that some of us purchase them because we have rotten feet!

After years and years of wearing Doc's I think that I'm done. My most recent pair of 1461s were falling apart. The sole was coming off. I sent them back and they were replaced (for free) with a brand new pair, made in China. I think that their quality is going down hill. Oh well.

I wear the Deer Stags at work, they seem pretty comfortable enough and they're pretty cheap at JC Penny's.

Haha, that just reminded me of a captain that I had the other day who was walking around the airplane between legs in his socks. Whatever floats your boat. Luckily he didn't have cheeze foot.

I recently got deer stags also. Pretty cheap at Mervyn's and don't set the metal detector off at the airport.

pavelump, viper-
Good advice about the Deer Stags. I've been trying on shoes for about a month now- Rockports, Florsheims, Skechers, Docker's, etc. The $49.50 Deer Stags were more comfortable than any of them, cheaper, and airport friendly. Some Kiwi, spit and elbow grease and they shine up like mirrors. Just as comfortable as sneakers, look good with dress pants, waterproof, and the soles should stand up to the chemical bath on the ramp pretty well. I'm happy!

Jim, You are so A#AL. LOL Personally I prefer the Old Navy shorts, a free t shirt from Freebirds and tennis shoes. But the again, the load of boxes in the back of the Lear don't care.
Yeah, I guess I am:D
Hey, how's you get the free freebirds shirt? Scamming the A&M chicks? Eat $100 worth of Super Monsters? :buck:

That's a definite bonus. With having to take off the jacket, hat, take out the laptop, lay the flight kit on it's side, etc., taking off my shoes to go through security is the last thing that I want to do. I've never been asked to take them off by TSA. Well not yet at least.

Update on the Deer Stags-- NO BUENO.

Only had 'em about two months, and the sole is coming unglued, yes, unglued from the bottom. Apparently, the damn thing ain't stitched, sewn, or stapled to the sole, just a bead of glue. And there's some stitching coming undone up near the laces. I also met an IAH Captain with the same shoes who has similar problems.

I'll wear 'em till they're unusable, but I can't recommend them.
