Hello there,
I hate for my first post to be of this nature, I'm a member of a well known European flight forum but have decided to start my flight training in the US.
I'd like to do an FAA PPL in soCAL but unfortunately I'm limited to sevis approved schools. To those who aren't familiar, these are the only schools allowed to issue the I-20 which in turn can be used to facilitate the M1 vocational visa for flight training.
Finding a suitable school which satisfies a huge range of factors without actually being on the ground is proving to be an arduous task. Plane/instructor availability, maintenance, hidden costs and instructor quality are the most significant points in my mind, with that said, FTOs have a nasty little habit of pulling the wool over one's eyes. Personally, I don't mind forking out a little extra for peace of mind and therefore I'm not entirely price driven, I feel as if the age old adage of 'you get what you pay for' applies here.
Does anyone know any reputable schools in Southern California? I've come across Pinnacle Aviation Academy in Carlsbad (just outside of San Diego) which looks very promising but wouldn't mind a headsup before committing to any expenditure.
Thank you in advance!
