I got an email this evening from a practicing "Seventh Day Adventist" interested in aviation. Now if anyone is a part of this religion and wouldn't mind responding, email me and I'll try to make a connection.

Hey Doug, I'm seventh-day adventist...stopped attending service a few months back because i'm too tired nowadays to wake up early on a saturday. I'm still a student though, CASEL, working on multi. questions?

Hi Doug,

You may want to refer the person to www.puc.edu/angwinairport/. This is the website for Pacific Union College in Angwin, CA. It is a 7th Day Adventist college with an aviation program. There are probably several people there that could answer this person's questions.

Man you have never heard of the Maule demo. That company is in my hometown and that is a trademark demo move..Mr Maule use to do it now his son or test pilot will do it. There start on one side of the hanger and when they get to the front doors the lift off. Demoing the maule short field performance.

Thanks! I'll just refer him to this thread!

Thanks for your help folks!

Doug,

My old Chief Instructor is a 7th Day Adventist. I can get you in contact with him if you want.

Diddo....that I was raised Seventh Day Adventist. In fact my whole family is Seventh Day Adventist.

But I no longer enjoy waking up early Sat. mornings to make it to Sabbath school at 9am.

So I worship quietly in my bed every Sat.

Doug there is a Seventh Day adventist school/academy in SDL like right next to the Scottsdale arpt. I used to frequent that place often as a child. For state convocations.

See people I have me some religion.

I feel your pain Matthew, that waking up for sabbath school gets to you. LMAO I like the way you worship!!! Man how do people manage to do that everyweek? and with such enthusiasm, I mean, it's not required you attend service to be an SDA right?

You're funny man.

Uggghhhh....as a kid I didn't know any diff.

But as a 28 yr. old I enjoy sleeping in and don't like to be up anytime before 10-11am if I don't have anything to do.

Guess I'm kinda lazy in my older years.

So that kinda negates me getting up and dressed for Sabbath School.

Though my mom always tried to sneak in a guilt trip to get me to go back to church.

Thus far Guilt trip: 0

Me sleeping in Sat. Morning 1000 and counting (number is prolly much higher).

Edwin do you think it possible for Seventh-Day Adventist to be airline pilots be it pax service or cargo?

I think it an impossiblity...due to our religion stating were not allowed to work or basically do anything (except worship God) from sun dwn Fri. night to sun down Sat. night.

I mean you could technically once you become senior if able hold a schedule that didn't have you working Fri-Sat.

But I figure when your senior enough to hold that schedule you would have "sinned" by our religion so much that it wouldn't even matter any more....lol.

Any info on the SDA flight academy? That came as a total suprise that they even had a flight academy.

Anyways just wanted to get ur opinion on if being a practicing SDA would negate you from being an airline pilot....fortunatly for me I'm a "heathen" and a "gentile" so I don't have to worry bout that at all...

My church recently started having services on Saturday evening, as well as Sunday AM.

I'm not a morning person, so guess which one I attend.

. The only way you could avoid working on the sabbath is with what you mentioned but you'd be right about the rest. That's why I just worship and keep my faith the best I can. They say put God first and everything else will fall into place, but I haven't tried that yet. One of the reasons I tried to join the Coast guard and fly for them is because if you are working in a humanitarian job i.e...doctor, nurse, lifesaver, EMS, firefighting, CG Rescue ops.; then that's something that's o.k. But this was just something my stepfather told me. I know they have SDA pilots to fly the boeing they use for disaster relief, but other than that I'd be pressed to answer.

Like I said before, you don't have to attend service every week to be religious, one should attend when they feel it in their heart. I feel like it on special days like thanksgiving and christmas. It's a pretty tough compromise, some religious people would see it as choosing over God, I think I'm doing what makes me happy. I am not hurting anyone along the way, keep in mind the ten commandments and how a christian is expected to act and that's ok with me. Although I have trouble with the eating and drinking issues too

lmao!

Good luck man.

I guess I would be looked down upon by other SDA's cause I only keep some of the beliefs but oh well you get used to it.

They say God forgives all so long as you don't abuse it, but with time you don't even thing about church and the whole salvation thing, you're just too busy with the crap you have to think about every day.

Damn man, I wish i could remember to post everything at once. Since you mentioned the SDA academy; I have no clue about it, I just wonder in what direction they point their pilots to be proffessionals and keep the sabbath? I'd like to hear what they recommend, although it would seem kind of ___ (can't think of a word) to train a pilot into "eternal hell" . lmao

There is an edit function you could use so you and add/delete from a post. That way you don't keep having to reply to yourself.
