We are introducing a method of allowing a "paperless" review of your resume with mentors, recruiters and other job seekers at NetworkJC this year utilizing "QR Codes"

The QR code, for those that wish to participate, will appear on the back of your name badge which you will receive when you check-in at the event.

Do I have to participate?
Nope. It's an option. Who wants to carry a stack of Gutenberg-era resumes in 2014 to Las Vegas?

How do I participate?
1. Create a PDF file of your resume and upload it to your "public directory" on a free service like DropBox, Box, Google Drive or whatever other service you find convenient:

I'm using Box as an example:

And then click share and capture the URL:

Then, go to Eventbrite and update your ticket with the URL:

(remember, your Eventbrite login uses the email address registered when purchasing your ticket)

Insert the URL to your resume. Please verify that it works.

I'll type in "https://app.box.com/s/k9zjt1pg4c7cgneetcqo" in the box here:

Click "Save" and your part is done. If you have updates to your resume, just update the file and update any potential URL changes in Eventbrite.

What will it look like?
Just like this. Give it a scan with your mobile device with a program like RedLaser or any other QR or Barcode scanner of your choice.

there a deadline for this? I really need to update my resume.

edit: read the other thread...deadline is this friday.

You can even put up your current resume and update it at a later date. Just make sure the URL to it remains the same after Friday.

That's the cool part about this. You can technically update it and distribute it seconds later.

Is it wrong that I am tempted to find some really goofy midget porn or something and link the QR code to that?

the line between wrong and awesome is very close here....but i feel this is on the awesome side.

Done! Very cool Derg! Should we bring paper resumes, just in case some recruiters don't have this, or will all the recruiters have this option?

Also, does it have to be in .pdf format? I was able to put my resume into HTML from my Word document and create a webpage for it and that seemed to work to get a web address. I can't seem to figure out how to get it into a .pdf though. (I am using a 7 year old Macbook.)

go to print the word document,...file...print...bottom left corner should be a drop down that says pdf next to the question mark....select save as pdf....

if you are still having problems pm me and i will convert it for you.

PDF is best just because you can't mess with the formatting of it.

@saxman To PDF, use your print option and with your macbook, on the left bottom side of the print box, you should see a PDF button. PM me for dets :)

In office programs on Mac you should be able to File-> Export as PDF

Got my resume in there
