SERE

I was lucky and went to SERE in ME in January!:chair: Fun times!

I went through SERE in ME in December.....cold as $hiite. There was 2-4 ft of snow and hear it doubles by January. Regardless, SERE was not, is not and never will be fun

Congrats AMG!
I can imagine it would be pretty hard for pilots to play stupid at the POW camp, the enemy would know that military pilots are educated, well trained and have access to more information than a young enlisted seaman with a year or two in service. It would be challenging though.

Went through SERE in ME in May and it was cold as e. Nothing to eat either...

The BL, don't get captured. Especially not by some of the peeps we're fighting these days.

Our unspoken rule as a crew was no one is captured alive and anyone taking care of this was not to lose sleep over it.
Just as a disclaimer, I never did anything heroic.

One of the worst situations I was put in was being the SRO (better known as "senior war criminal"), and seeing people beaten and punished for my mistakes. Ironically years later I ran into the "war baby" when he showed up to my unit as a WO1 (he was an enlisted Special Operations soldier in SERE).

nice, I go shortly...not looking forward to it at all

Don't worry Ian; we've already sent in the buddy card on you :D :D

:joke:

Boots boots boots... :)

:buck:

We did the evasion part and I evaded for the entire time. When they set off the siren for everyone to come in to the camp, I was one of the first ones they grabbed. The "facilitators" were pissed at me because I had "evaded" for the entire time so I was singled out.

I distinguished myself by being the only one to successfully vector in the enemy helicopter to rescue me :D

I lost just over 10 lbs (which I think mike can attest that I didn't have to lose) in 6 days, so I guess it is a good weight loss program ;)

So did I, but I'm pretty sure it was mostly water and I gained it back pretty quickly. Probably wasn't a bad time to do my waist measurement though!
