I recently upgraded to the Sennheiser HMEC 46, so my trusty HMEC 45-KA headsets are going up for sale.
These are Active Noise Cancelling headsets from Sennheiser. They work well in turbine aircraft (but I have not flown with them in piston planes so can't comment there). The ANC is powered by two AA batteries which last a loooong time - something like 80 hours of flight time if I remember correctly.
I have two headsets, both are fully functional. One headset battery cover is slightly looser than the other, so I keep a rubber band on it so it doesn't come off. I have a spare cover that I will include with that headset.
I have two styles of ear piece covers that you might be interested in as well. One is a set of foam pads intended for this model headset, and the second is a set of leatherette pads that were originally intended for a Sennheiser HMEC-25/26 headset. The -25/26 cover has more padding and is very comfortable for long trips, but I think it causes some minor interference with the Active Noise Reduction circuitry, at least it seemed to in the Lear. I didn't notice problems so much in the Citation. :dunno: The leatherette covers seem to offer some passive noise reduction, so I didn't think having the ANC shut off in the Lear was that big a deal. Even with the ANC shut off these headsets were much more comfortable and quieter than the stock Telex 750's we use.
I only have one headset case.
Here's your chance before I send them to eBay. Make an offer on one or both and if it's reasonable, well, I'd like to see these go to a good JC home. Take a look at eBay and you'll get an idea of the going rate for these fine headsets.
