RIP Kevin. He was a great guy and an even better friend. He was too nice and too young. I'm going to miss flying with him.
. He just made one decision that he didn't think about, and it really got him.
Maybe he was referring to something that may have happened in the plane. When something is happening quickly you don't really know if you will make the right choices. It's a shame accidents have to happen, but we are all human. The plane I soloed it apparently ran out of gas. Could have easily been prevented, but now they won't have the opportunity to learn from the experience. I doubt they thought it would happen to them, yet it did. It could be a planning issue, but it could also be enroute decisions or decisions during the emergency that mean a successful flight or death.Who the are you to tell me he didn't check the weather or shouldn't have gone? Is Mr. " I solod in 1.3 hours" an expert on flying and air crashes. I don't care what they said in the meeting at IAA, anyone can say "well I wouldn't have flown" in hindsight.
I'm not sure if you've read the metars for the airport but maybe you should before saying "he should have known his minimums and that he couldn't get in" because guess what, it was well above minimums.
, really.
