Seaport discontinues service in CA and KS

This letter is about EAS service to Visalia, CA(VIS) who until the early 80s had mainline United service followed by commuter service by various airlines until the early 2000s(ending with SkyWest doing FAT-VIS to connect pax on to LAX and SFO) at which point it received EAS service from Air Midwest, Great Lakes, and then Seaport who all sort of left them high and dry. VIS is close enough to FAT that a drive wouldn't be all that big a deal and in this case I agree that EAS money is better spent elsewhere. But what stuck out to me:

Looks like this "pilot shortage" is so real cities are starting to fear no airline can complete it's scheduled flights...

Visalia is only a hop, skip, and a jump from Fresyes. I'm sure there are a few hurt feelings, but @Derg's family will be alright making that drive to catch that flight to visit him in Snottsdale. I hear the air is the freshest between Visalia and Fresno anyways. The temperature cool also. :)

They probably don't have the money. There are only a few places making huge profits. None of them fly Caravans.

The fault is on bad business leaders bidding low for routes... Lol

They shot themselves in the foot, leading a business like business as usual will do that.

A friend just sent me this.

I’m seeing a pattern here. You?

John Beardsley owner of SeaPort doesn’t pay for Wings of Alaska as promised. Former owners sue.

Then suddenly Beardsley is able to pay the full amount for ADI. Wonder where the money came from?

John Beardsley owner of SeaPort doesn’t pay for EEA to fly SeaPort routes during the “Pilot Shortage”. EEA sues to get paid for services provided to SeaPort.

And finally it looks like PDT is going away as well.
http://www.eastoregonian.com/eo/local-news/20160204/seaport-keeps-pendleton-flights-as-it-downsizes

“At a city council meeting Tuesday, the city’s auditor pointed out the more than $2 million the airport has accrued in debt as a recurring issue.”

“Chrisman said SeaPort has consistently been one to three months behind in its passenger facility charge payments, a trend he’d be more worried about if hadn’t been a problem since before the downsizing.”

“Chrisman said the city will send out a request for qualifications to potential bidders in the spring or summer. According to Chrisman, the federal government will most likely go along with whichever airline the city selects.”

Still sorry you left? Or is it sorry you joined?

I’m kinda speechless.

@BobDDuck

Be gentle.

He is coming off a SeaPort koolaid induced high and is coming back down to the reality so many others have been trying to point out for many, many months.

It wasn't meant as an insult at all. We've all (well, many of us) have worked for really bad operators before. Some of us escaped because we saw that we'd end up dying if we kept flying there, some were fired for doing the right thing and some stuck with it until the company imploded under them. I was just wondering why, from the inside this was surprise. I'd figure it would be less so from there.
