One thing about getting on the step. It's pure power that makes it happen. Nothing aerodynamic about it...pure power. And if you can't get up on the step you can't take off. This has happened to me twice. Old time float pilots say if you can get it up on the step, it will eventually take off if you have enough lake...that's always been my experience.
