Screenshots for FSX

Agree, But I don't think any body can run the full scenery with out spending at least 2 Gz on their computer ( Which I think is crazy ):P
You guys are underestimating the power of a 64 bit operating system. It will require an upgrade to a 64 bit processor and Windows Vista, but nowhere near $2000.

I feel the two biggest things that ppl will need to upgrade is their GPU's and RAM. Vista's minimum will be 512MB but recommended is 1GB plus. FSX will require 2GB for optimal playability. $$$$$$

For the GPU FSX will run optimally on a 256MB card with DX 10 support. $$$$

Also, to make full use of most things, I know Vista will run best with a dual core or hyper threading CPU. I feel you can say the same for FSX. $$$$$$

My crystal ball tells me in six months just about no one except total FS nerds are going to be anywhere near meeting those requirements.

With today's tech prices, you're looking at $2,000 to even get near those specs.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102624 - There are no DX10 cards out, but a really good card with 512mgs - 339.99

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819116238 - 3GHZ dual core processor - 190.99

Throw in a good motherboard for about $100, a case with power supply for $100, 160 gig hard drive, $65

~$930
Ohh!

You do have a point, 2K is a bit high, but I still feel you wont get much of a system for FSX for only $1,000. At least today, who knows six months from now though...

Yeah, if you're going to build a new system, wait until the new DX10 cards are out, but you can get a pretty nice system for less then $1000. Way less if you have some components already.

Able to run MSFS and pretend you're a real pilot.....priceless

Seriously, though. You'll probably need to max the RAM, get a dual core processor, run a two video card system (yes, my brother actually HAS this in his new computer) and shutdown everything else except Windows in order to get the FPS you need. Screenshots generally are awe inspiring, especially when nothing is moving.

As far as everytime FS comes out people buy a new computer, I'm sure Dell, Gateway, etc love it. Micro$oft couldn't care less, though. They see money from software sales, not the new computers. They just bring out a re-vamped version of the same OS about every 3-5 years and convince the public they NEED it. Then they make them buy a copy for every damn computer they own.

Do you build PCs? I was going to start building one soon.

Yeah, I've built all of mine since college. It's cheaper and of better quality most of the time, and it's really not very hard at all.

Yeah, it looks fun. It will be an over time thing. I just got into it. Its expensive, but not as much as getting a $3,000 setup from Dell when I could build one for $1,500, even less and the way I want it. Im taking a computer class at my school next year so that will help alot. Check out
www.pcmech.com good forums on there.

Im mackin' a state of tha art, crazy fizzle Pizzle 800 MHz 512 mb of old skoo` RAM (not tha new DDR shiznit) n a slightly updated 64 128 mb video card . You'se a flea and I'm the big dogg. This computa was new in 2000.

The F-U-Double-Nizzy thing is, it stiznill works. It runs fine . Chill as I take you on a trip. I do web design n use Adobe photoshop every day. No hiccups. But T-H-to-tha-izzen again, tha mizzy hard core game I play on it is "Transport Tycoon" thizzat was orginally available back in tha late 90s :).

I was think'n `bout trippin' n sippin' a computa, but killa this rap `bout "dual processor" shiznit I think Im gonna hold off.

Matt, for the love of god, never do that again. :)

People ask me what kind of computer I have. "Is it a Dell? Gateway? What is it?" I reply "It's a Bastard."
