I do not know if these were posted a long time ago, but here are some screenshots from Flight Sim X coming out this Christmas. I persoanlly cannot wait. Of course it will require the new Windows Vista, I plan on buying a laptop for school when the back to school deals start and I believe Vista does not come out until the end of this year. So many may have to spend 200 dollars on the new windows as well as a new computer at least a new video card and some ram since i am sure the game will be damanding.

Hmm, it seems Vista actually will NOT be required however to get the best results, Vista is reccomended.

Q: What’s new in “Microsoft Flight Simulator X”?
A: Many of the new features in “Flight Simulator X” are based on requests from our loyal community {...}fans will be amazed at the new level of detail in the models and the realistic effects like sun glint off the glass and chrome, reflective paint, and even shaded rivets on the fuselage.

:nana2: Finally!!!!!!:insane:

Probably same scenery just looks more detailed and defined.
Agree, But I don't think any body can run the full scenery with out spending at least 2 Gz on their computer ( Which I think is crazy ):P

Wow, FSPlanet.com is still around? I used to be good friends with the founder of that site, Ferdy Serena. He was just starting up his page at the same time I was starting a flight sim web site back in '97. That's how we got to know each other. The flight sim community was so small then, compared to now. Heck, the whole internet was small then, compared to now.

I remember arguing with him about putting ads on his site when he started getting more traffic. I thought it was a waste of bandwidth and alienated users on slow (14.4, 28.8) dialup connections. I said it was a shame how the internet was shifting from single, personal pages to big, commercialized sites. How times have changed.

Was anybody else in to the flight sim internet community back in those days? I feel old now. That's alright though...I haven't hardly touched MSFS since I began flying the real thing.

Oh I am sure the computers that most have now will not be able to handle the program when it comes out. Another way for microsoft to make money..

Those screenshots are pretty impressive, too bad you need a mother computer just to play the thing. Microsoft at its best, just begging for you to drop a few thousand dollars on a new computer. The last flight sim had some decent graphics, but even then you needed a jumbo PC just to crank the graphics. I have a Dell 3.2ghz, 1g ram with Radeon 9700 Video card and I still couldn't tweak Flight Sim 2004 to the max without loosing a ton of frames.

What Microsoft needs to do is update their physics model, because when I try to do a snap roll in the Extra, or a tail slide stall, the plane just starts tumbling in the air like its in a dryer. Kind of annoying. :)

Every time a new Flight Sim comes out I have to get a new computer..Now that I fly for a living, I don't play it as much, but Im stoked to see the new version. Ive been playing it since Flightsim 3.1 (I think it was called that)

My laptop can barely run FS9 with a little over half of the features on, much less FSX. There are more important things to spend money on.

Yeah, I do hope the physics are better. I mean it is damned near impossible to fly a traffic pattern on FS9. Maybe my joystick is not the best, but I find it much easier to fly an actual traffic pattern. Oh well, that is why it is just a game.

How does the FS series compare to X-Plane? I downloaded the Xplane demo a week ago and really like the look of it. . . too bad my video card is on the fritz bringing gameplay to a crawl! ugh.

I remember people saying, "1.2 GB hard drive? Why in the world would you need that?"

:)

I fall into this catagory. :)

At the last CES here in Vegas they had FSX on display with sounds and its very impressive. The sound is a lot better on the jets. The major airports have ground crews. There is ground traffic that moves along the highways. The night scenery is amazing. The guy from MS said they still may make a few more changes before its release and wouldnt tell us what new aircraft if any will be added. He said they have made it a lot easier to download add-ons. Looks fun
