Scores?

All that and a quarter can by you a wal-mart soda machine soda.

Sam's Choice Diet Cola: 25 cents

Bragging rights: Priceless

(I'm waiting for the "You shouldn't get 100%, because then you'll get to an interview and they'll think you cheated" remark. ;))

.

That is impressive I might add...

Thanks. What can I say? Having the Gleim book and a photographic memory certainly helped.

I've always found acquiring, retaining and recalling knowledge relatively easy, which meant that I did well in the written and oral tests. Now as for my flying skills on the other hand....:D

PPL: 87
FII: 88
IRA: 98

Taking my commercial @ the end of the week maybe.... then the instructor ground/FOI.... I better have a 100 somewhere in there - which will probably be the FOI.

If you have a 100% on your written the DPE usually starts digging, assuming you either know everything and it won't matter or alternatively just memorized the answers to the questions in the prep book. That's been my experience anyway. YMMV.

Not my experience. Just the opposite in fact.
I don't think you can generalize - all depends on the examiner.

I scored in the 90s on both private and instrument. 92 and 97 respectively.

My private oral was pretty easy. After I answered several questions right on, he started flipping through his pages faster and just asking me spot questions, and if I hesitated at all he would answer it and go on to the next. It was obvious I knew my stuff so after maybe 15 minutes the rest was just formality. It went pretty quick.

My instrument oral was easy too. There were two of us doing it together so he would ask the other guy a question and then ask me one. It was more what I would call a teaching oral. He would expound on the answers, etc. It was pretty easy. I really enjoyed it. We did our checkride together too. The other guy sat in the back seat while I did my checkride, but when I got through, I got out. I knew I had passed and I didn't want to ride in the backseat for the other guys.

PPL 95%
IRA 95%
FII 90%
Comm 89%
FIA 95%
FOI 98%
BGI 90% (why I did the BGI instead of the AGI is beyond me)

My Instrument Examiner complimented me on my IRA written, and said he would do a shorter oral because of it. The other examiners didnt pay any attention to my written grades

I have never had an examiner even mention my test results..they just confirm it was a pass..ive only used two different examiners though

The only two I remember are a 70% on IGI and an 85% on the ATP. I honestly don't remember any of my DEs or Inspectors ever looking at anything besides "Passing or not."

I made a 99 on my ATP, I was pretty upset since I spent 10 hours studying right before I took the test. I ended up missing some question on the alternate airport requirements for a supplement air carrier....ahh well.....maybe I can do better on the FE written if I ever need to take that one.

I don't remember any of my scores, it was too long ago!

I got my Comm & Inst by taking an 80 question "military competency exam" (oxymoron...LOL) in 1982 after I got my Navy wings.

Took the FEW and ATPW in 1987 after test-prep courses and scored in the high 90's on both... I'm sure I'd have a hard time doing so well taking them cold now...

I missed just one question on the PPL written. It was the one that asks which instrument becomes inop if the pitot tube gets blocked. I put altimeter. I’m not sure why but maybe it’s because it starts with an “a”. I knew it was airspeed indicator, but that’s what happens on a written test if you get nervous and go too fast.

The examiner did mention the score though, saying “oh, you scored pretty high.” The oral exam was about three hours including paperwork and chit-chat. I don’t think the score had anything to do with the length of the oral exam though. She likes a long oral from what I hear.
