Scored my first couple airline interviews

If I can get there, I'm off to Appleton, WI to interview with Air Wisconsin next Tues/Wed and on Friday to Houston to interview with Colgan.

I know upgrade at Air Wisky isn't even in their vocabulary, but I've heard such good stuff about the company and how they treat their employees. I think I would be fortunate to get the job there!

I faxed my stuff into Air Wisconsin about 9 days ago and got a call today. I was getting depressed about not getting any calls for interviews but I guess 9 days isn't that long to wait in the scheme of things...hopefully the trend continues with the 15 places I applied lol.

Good luck. When I sent out all my apps, Mesa and American Eagle were quick to offer me interviews. Express Jet took 3 month until they called for the phone interview. I hear SkyWest is calling people in short time lately. What are your top choices?

Congrat, I have a lot of friends at Whisky and the seem to like it. Don't know what the future holds as I believe UAL is dumping them. If you choose Colgan try and get the Saab...

Chautauqua, Skywest, Air Wisconsin, Cape Air

I've been trying for months for CHQ, can't seem to get a call at all. Even though their upgrade time is quick, I know their work rules leave something to be desired. It seems Air Wisky is a good place to call home. I've heard they have a new commuter policy that is one of the best, you just have to show your jumpseat card to prove you tried to get on a single flight and they'll let you off. There's no training contract either. They also pay guarentee during training, single occupancy hotel, etc. etc. Good company!

They will own just over 13% of the new USAir after the merger. They are losing all their 146's but have a new contract with USAir to place all of their 70 CRJ-200's with them in Richmond, Philly, and I think Dulles, which is perfect for me because I want to get back to the east coast.

I had a freight job lined up, but so far no call from them for a class date, so I'm looking for other options...

Congrats on the interviews. That's awesome!

I have an interview w/ Colgan tomorrow and Monday in LaGuardia. I'll let you know how it goes and what you might expect for yours later in the week.

Wow talk about a small world! I was actually scheduled to be there too, even have the ID90 pass. However, after I got the call from Air Wisconsin, I took the first available interview date, which was wednesday, and I wasn't going to get back from colgan until tuesday morning. So I moved the Colgan one.

Let me know how it goes!

If Wisky loses their 146's what will they be flying into ASE,EGE, and all the other mountain towns, the RJ? Can it make it in and out of those airports like the Avro?

Well, as you know they've lost the United feed. I think they've started the transition to USAir and that will be complete sometime late this year or early next year. When that happens they won't be flying into aspen etc. and will be shedding all those airframes.

I'm not sure when the United feeder service is supposed to stop, however. Rumor over on flightinfo is that United asked them to keep their 146's on the aspen runs. Who knows...

It seems that a lot of the senior people are leaving the company because they'll have to commute to the east coast, so they're continuing to hire, hence the interviews coming up. The company historically has been a very cautious one, but I would hope they can get some 70 seaters to compete with the likes of Mesa, Chautauqua, etc. etc. etc. Upgrade time? It's like Eagle. But a smaller company, which I like. It'll be a gamble, just like working at PSA, PDT, Xjet, etc. are - tied to one company. Hopefully USAir and America West can pull this whole merger thing off.

Interesting. Im curious about ASE, not only because I go there on the 146, but its the only type that flies into there. Except for when AW flew their Dash 8s, and Lonestar/MAX with the DO328s. Id be really curious to see what they will use. Im flying into ASE next week on Wisky's 146, so I'll be sure to relish it since they may not be around much longer.

Good luck It is nice to have several options. I know when I got the interview calls, they all came in in a short period of time. I hope you get all of them.

Well, I ended up getting the call about 3 hours after interviewing. Today, I accepted the 8/15 class, which is in about 4 days!

The only thing that worries me is my driving record on the background check. I have 3 moving violations in the last 6 years. The HR person assured me it shouldn't be a big deal but I don't want any snags

! Two were in the last year and a half

, and the first one resulted in a suspended license because I was under 18 (per NH law)...

So I faxed it in on July 27nd, got the call to interview on the 5th, interviewed and was hired on the 10th, and will be in class on the 15th. Things moved fast this month!!
