Schools in the Dallas/ Ft. Worth area...

We are approved for 141 everything, I believe, including the Commercial. 141 has a ton of dual instruction, so in the end, it is a hell of a lot cheaper doing it 61, especially if you are time building. We just got some 150's for time building. One of my students just finished his private, and is time building, and I have 2 more that will be getting their private in the next 2 weeks, and they will 100% be time building as well.

FYI - and I was shocked at this - Monarch is charging a higher instructor rate for 61 than they are for 141. It's $35/hr for 141, it's $40/hr for 61.

It just doesn't make sense to me that they have been part 141 for so long at Monarch and have no interest getting VA approval. But, probably better anyway. I cannot imagine how much wasted hobbs time there would be with starting at the IR and going through the CFI ratings from the Addison airport with all of the taxi time and traffic around that airfield. I know that they fly out of McKinney and a couple of other airports around the Metroplex, but Addison....

If I recall, I believe all of monarchs 141 ground is computer based training. I could be wrong. It's been a while since I've had to look into that stuff.

I think it's a King kit, actually. Can't remember exactly what the guy I talked to said.

But they do have some CBT facilities. Maybe a combination? I dunno - Varig777 trained there. He might know.

So is Skymates. It's all done with the King ground school computer based stuff.

No doubt dawg! It's really a good system, though. It covered a ton of crap and allowed us to focus on the flying and cleaning up questions.

Seems like everyone is familiar with SkyMates pretty well. And so far, I have heard nothing but good things about them. I am a career changer, at least considering a career as a pilot. This question is for everyone/anyone who completed the professional program at SkyMates - if you had to do it again, would you have chosen a different flight school in the DFW area? If so what flight school would you have chosen? What are the pros and cons? That is, completing all ratings at SkyMates.
