Sorry for such a late post, but I am a memeber of the San Antonio Area Business Aviation Alliance (SAABAA) and we have a scholarship available for flight training. PLEASE COMPLETE THIS RIGHT AWAY FOR CONSIDERATION!

Just wanted to reply to get this back to the top so someone might see it. I know this free money will benefit some current or future aviator. SAABAA has a meeting this Thursday and I want to hear that we have many applicants (we had next to none a month ago!).

Can I drop off my application tomorrow night at the airport? I'm doing my night XC to San Antonio for my PPL (I live in Austin). I'll probably just mail it tomorrow, but it would be fun to hand it in myself.

What are the details? Do you have to be from San Antonio? I found the application but I can't really find a description of what it's for.

I beleive it is for $1,000 toward flight training (any level). Don't quote me on the amount, but I am 90% certain that is the right amount (hey, ever little bit helps!).

Yes, you can drop off your application in person. I suggest you do one of the following in dropping off your application (pick one option, and I suggest #1 over #2 and so on).
1) Go to the HOLT Hanger at SAT. Drop off the applicaiton with Ms. Bobbye Scott there. Tell her Joseph from Deacon Aviation Recruiting told you to do it since you were in town. Advice on this location: Just be yourself and casual here. They are a solid and casual laid back company. I'd love to fly thier King Air!
2) If not on the side of the airport where the corporate hangars are, go to Wright Flyers (the flight school here) and drop off the application with Rand Goldstein. Tell him Joseph from Deacon Aviation Recruiting told you that you can do this. Advice: Be yourself. This is a nice little school. Maybe you can check it out and spread the word for these guys if you drop it off here?
3) Go to Valero hangar and drop off the application in person with Tripp Riedel or Scott Miller. Again, tell them Joseph from Deacon Aviation Recruiting said this would be an option for you to meet the deadline since I just told you about it and you happen to be at SAT. Advise: If you go here, be absolutely certain you put your best corporate face on since this is a $80 Billion Fortune 50 company's corporate flight department and suites are the name of the game here! Real nice Citaiton X and Lears here, but they might not let you too close since corproate policy is quite strinct and they run a tight ship (meaning they do things right).

Oh, one last thing. I heard from one fo my co-workers she thought you had to be from SAn Antonio. I did not hear such a thing, so I do nto beleive so. I think any US Citizen is allowed to apply that is looking to enter aviation (the preference I beleive) or is looking to work toward a new rating to continue their personal dream of flying. Quite frankly, I am not on the scholarship committee so I do not know all the details (what i know is as good as my spelling!). What I do know is a month ago at our last meeting there was concern that not many people applied. Remember, this is offered every year so keep a bookmark on the site for when you can apply again in 2007!
