Do they not give you any vacation starting at a regional or major??? Did I miss this??????

They do, how much ... depends on current contract.

Each pilot accrues vacation time at a certain rate per month, or at some airlines, per hour flown.

At Continental effective January 1, 2007:
Accrual at 1.6 days for each full month of service. The company limits maximum yearly vacation days depending on years of service:

Years of service...max. vac days per year
1-4..........14 days
5-10.........21
11-24.......35
24-29.......42
30+..........44

So during the fist year a CAL pilot is entitled to 2 weeks off.

Hope this helps

Timing is everything (not that I had any choice in the matter). I got hired in October. Our contract says that newhires accrue 1 day of vacation for every month during their first year. I had 3 days of vacation at the end of 2006 and the minimum is 7 days to be awarded a vacation slot. That plus the fact that I was not officially in the ANC domicile when vacation bidding took place (Oct/Nov) I was not able to bid for vacation for 2007. Strange thing is there's no way to get vacation apart from the vacation bid period. You get one chance to bid and that's it! So... I get no vacation this year.
