OK peoples, I need some help here. Just posted a message on Craigs list offering instruction here at the airport. I got the following message in my email about 5 minutes after the post went active:

the month of march/june 2007, i got your advert while surfing through
the internet and i really want my child to be taught by you.{Edricl}

daughter is coming to stay with her for his period of tutoring and
she has agreed with me..kindly get back to me with......

3.FULL NAME AND ADDRESS
4.YOUR PHONE NUMBER..."
Thanks as i hope to read from you as soon as
possible...Regards.....................

Whats up with that? I'm guessing scam and avoid replying.

I sent a reply mail from my yahoo account (the one I use when I know or suspect I'll get spam) asking what his son's intentions and goals are in aviation. I'll see if I get a reply.

For certain a scam. I've led these people on for days sometimes until they get so pissed off that they don't contact me anymore. Once I had a lady from Nigeria (who said she was in love with me) thinking I was getting ready to give her my bank account number so she could wire me some money. Poor little thing was pretty ticked when she knew I was just along for the laughs.

might not have even been a lady!

to me, the email sounds like he's looking for a school (not pilot) tutor for his kid which sounds like a scam.

ooohhh heres a good one I just got a couple days ago.

Dear Sir,

Goodday. Compliment of the season. It is my plaesure to request a flight training course for my son and cousin in your reputable Flight training school. I do believe you will give the maximum training to them on the following course: (Commercial Pilot Licence ).

Actually, my company is going into the Aviation industry in the year 2008, and i want my own child and cousin to handle the effective operation of this firm. So as a result, i want you to give me a full details of the course, price and duration of the course.

I would be more than happy to hearing from you, concerning your Commercial Pilot Licence course as soon as possible, as i want them to start the course not later than 2nd March, 2007.

Looking forward to your earliest reply.Thanks.

Best Regards,
Cole James.

That's the one I got. Sent them a reply asking what thier intentions were and no reply lol.

Craigslist is getting horrible.

Too many damn spams and scams going on. I'd avoid it at all cost - although I did find my sales job on it about 6 months ago.

Phising seems to span all industries. My buddy just got one about some overseas teaching he is doing (german, french to english classes). Had a pretty good raport with someone until he asked a couple simple questions, never heard back.

You got that right. I'm currently selling my boat. I had this dude that said he was interested in buying the boat for his son in Canada. Yeah, whatever. So, I led him on for about 3 weeks. He even had the nerve to send me a fake cashiers check. Here's a link to the Bank in whose name is being used...

You think that these scammers would use a different bank to write their fake checks. If any of you ever get a cashiers check with this banks name on it, call the bank and have them verify it!!!.

Anyways, I haven't heard anything from "my" scammer in a few weeks. I hope he's REAL pissed. :tease:
